So how did the Quarry Hills HOA meeting go you ask...
The developer Desko was there. DR Horton was represented. And, Slatter Management was there.
The first announcement was that effective January 1st, Slatter Management will be replaced. The discussion around that was how they had not forecast costs as well as could have been done and hence, HOA dues are headed North. Because the exact new dues announcement must take place almost immediately, the numbers are probably known but would not be shared. The only forecast offered was 10 to 20 percent depending on which phase you lived in.
The pickleball court that will be provided drew more discussion than the developer wanted I suspect. The town of Swepsonville demanded some amenities be provided. I could not think of an amenity that could draw more yawns than a pickleball court. One neighbor pointed out that we have numerous courts throughout the area. Another pointed out that most of the residents present were old and would avoid playing pickleball at all costs. Tennis courts, swimming pools and clubhouses were not in the budget. The developer said a number of times that he would do what he was legally obligated to do. Understandable but still, very disappointing. Oh yeah, there will be a gazebo somewhere near the pickleball court.
The pot hole near the mail boxes will remain in place until a legal dispute is resolved and then someone who is legally obligated will fix it.
I was surprised to learn that the HOA will not be turned over to the residents until 100% of the homes are sold. At the projected speed of development, that should happen in about 2028.
I have been to countless HOA meetings. I have served on HOA boards for probably in excess of 25 years. I left the meeting hoping DR Horton would get a second wind and close out phase 3 in a couple of weeks. No, that will not happen. Yes, I will stay as cheerful as possible.
PS Duke Power is installing street lights on Trevana Way. They must be legally obligated.
