Many of us have volunteered for years with other rescue organizations and through our efforts have learned that there are so many dogs in need in the New England area that we decided the best way to serve our local communities and help these animals, was to start “The Boxer Rescue”. Our main goal is to help boxer dogs in need and to raise awareness among the public concerning rescue. A Boxer in n

eed of rescue many times, comes to us from shelters, homes where there is no room for them anymore, or from the streets. Some of our Boxers are starved, neglected, abused, and in need of food, medicine, medical treatment, and often times basic training. We do not have a facility to place our dogs, instead, through our volunteers; we find temporary “foster homes” for the dogs where we learn about each dog's particular needs, personality and temperament. We then interview perspective permanent homes and ultimately match the dogs and homes based on their mutual compatibility. We are constantly looking to improve the work of rescue and our volunteers are a critical part of our success; we would not exist without them. We are dedicated to finding responsible and loving homes for unwanted Boxers so that they will never again be in need of a new home. Our goal is to educate the public and Boxer lovers in responsible dog ownership, including spaying and neutering of pets, behavioral guidelines to ensure problem behaviors are dealt with before the dog is abandoned and to inform prospective Boxer owners of the special qualities, characteristics and requirements of the breed. As a non-profit organization we rely solely on the support and donations of people like you. Your support will contribute to the daily care and veterinary services that these dogs require. Our minds are boggled. This girl is damn near perfect in every way, yet no apps that are a good fit.
We will keep trying...

Impeccable manners ✅
Good with kiddos ✅

Daphne needs to be placed soon, as her current living situation is full of stress for her and the humans.

5 year old, Daphne, is coming into rescue because she needs to live as an only dog.
She's ok with dogs most of the time, and has lots of play dates, but in close quarters situations where there's a lot going on and heightened energy, she will redirect on the small resident dogs.

Daphne is very well behaved! This girl is a literal DREAM! She walks amazingly well on leash, knows all of her basic commands, and loves the car. She doesn't jump up and has a great energy about her.

Daphne's had a little bit of upheaval in her life and this transition will be a lot for her. We are looking to place her into an adoptive situation, if possible, to minimize her stress.

A foster to adopt can be done as well.
She does take Prozac daily, and it's done wonders for her. It's very inexpensive and maybe, in time, she could be weaned off, or not. Whatever she needs to be the best version of herself, works for us. She doesn't like to be confined to a room or crated, but is just fine with free roam and is happy to hang out.

Her current owner has a flexible work schedule so Daphne's time alone varies from day to day.
She really seems to attach herself to her people, so it would be great to place her in a home where she's not alone all the time, but rather gets to enjoy the company of her humans.

Thanks to our volunteer for meeting Daphne today. Does she like kids? Ummmmmm YES? She adored our volunteer's son, was soooo gentle, and gave lots of kisses.

Let's get this stunningly beautiful and beyond well behaved, girl, a home. She's going to make an awesome addition to a family.

Please don't apply to foster/adopt and then ghost us. Our volunteers take time out of their day to conduct phone interviews, check references, and do home visits. Some drive a long distance to meet potential new families. If you're not interested, if you're wishy washy, if you've found a dog elsewhere, just tell us so we can file your application accordingly.

Same goes for anyone interested in volunteering. We always welcome new volunteers, but if you're not actually interested in doing volunteer work, it's best you not fill out a volunteer form.

Can we just take a gander at Princess? She doesn't even look like the same dog that came into rescue almost a month ago. She is living proof of the power of decompression. And her fosters (now adopters) are the reason she is thriving.

Last month, Max was surrendered to our rescue. It wasn't an issue of him being unloved or unwanted. In fact, it was quite the opposite. The decision to let him go, was heartbreaking and painful. But it was the right one, due to the issues with another male in the home. His first mom struggled with it, went back and forth, had lots of questions, and was understandably concerned about where he was going and if he'd be as loved in a new home, as he was in theirs.
We found Max the perfect home, and while we don't share adopters' info with original owners for privacy reasons, we are happy to send updates and photos, if old owners ask.
Max's first mom reached out to see if she could send him a gift card for Valentine's Day so his new mom could pick out a few new toys that he'd like. We happily passed along the gift card and Max did a little shopping.
His mom shared pics of him with one of his choices. He looks pretty proud of it 😊

Surrendering a dog is not an easy decision (for some). We do all we can to help ease a little of the pain that comes with wanting to or needing to rehome them.

Max is thriving. He hit the forever home jackpot. This boy has never not known love in his life, and it shows.

Hoping that tomorrow will bring a forever home for Daphne. Right now, we have nothing for her.

Ending this Monday with George. It's been one week since he arrived in his new home. He is so loved and so giving of his love.

While we try not to dwell on the hell that he has endured in his life, it's hard not to feel anger and sadness over the wasted years. Years spent breeding. Years of neglect. Years trapped in a house of horrors.

His journey to our rescue family took a twisted path, but he made it to us, and how blessed WE are to have him.

Shine on, George. You've got beautiful memories to make in your forever home with your amazing momma, grandma, and fur sister. May the memories of your past, fade away, with each new sunrise and sunset.

You are safe.

Wed REALLY like to help this senior girl, named Tina. She landed in a shelter after her owner was found deceased. Next of kin didn't want her. So, at 10 years old, the shelter is where she sits.
We need a foster for her. No history with kids or cats. Seems ok with other dogs at the shelter but we know nothing beyond that.
She's been friendly, goofy, and is very spry for her age.

We figured we'd throw it out there and see if anyone can take her in.
