🚨 CRITICAL ADOPTION ALERT: OUR SHELTER IS AT MAX CAPACITY! 🚨

We are officially overflowing at the Taylor County Humane Society, and we urgently need our community’s help right now.

In just the past week, a massive influx of new dogs has arrived, leaving us with zero open space. Heartbreakingly, we have several incredible dogs who have been waiting in a kennel for over a year for a family to pick them. Many of these long-term residents are already fully sponsored, meaning their adoption fees are covered!

HOW YOU CAN HELP IMMEDIATELY:

ADOPT OR FOSTER (HIGHEST PRIORITY): We desperately need dogs moved into homes. Fostering saves lives by opening up a kennel for another dog in need.

VOLUNTEER: Extra hands are urgently needed this weekend and next weekend to help care for the surge of animals.

DONATE: Food, supplies, and monetary donations are critical to keeping us floating through this crisis.

Today is National Dog Day. Every single dog in our care is amazing and deserves a couch, a belly rub, and a second chance. Please don't scroll past—if you can’t adopt, SHARE this post immediately to help us save lives!

Handsome Hawk 😍

As a young (2-3 years old) Shepherd mix, Hawk would love to finally have his permanent home. He's housebroken, loves people, and gets along with other dogs. He also did ok with cats in a home (however, the cats never got over the fear of him so he was returned). He would be best with older children. It's also recommended that he be crated when not supervised as his curious mind tends to get him into mischief 😳🫠 Hawk has a desire to learn and please. He'll make a wonderful family member to someone looking for an active, loyal, and lovable sidekick 🐶

Hawk is available for foster and adoption. If you'd like to meet him, send us a message or fill out the application on our Linktree site pinned to the top of our page. You can also request an application at [email protected].

Meet Spud 🤍🤎

This big fella is a mountain of love. He was adopted out to a family but returned because he is so large, he was a little too much for them to walk. He does not care for other dogs, especially if they are reactive dogs. He will not be a good candidate to go to a dog park or have doggie play dates. He just wants to be with people. He would do best in a home with a fenced in yard or with a lot of land as he is large and hard to control when walking him. If he really wants to get somewhere then make sure you’ve got a good grip. He needs a home with love and a person who will appreciate him like we do. He is a shelter favorite for sure because he is so lovable. He will let you hug and kiss on him all day. He was neutered prior to coming to us and he knows commands, so we have no doubt that at one point he was loved and cared for. He is house trained and keeps his kennel clean. We believe he is at least 5 years old or maybe older but has the s***k of a much younger dog. We would recommend older kids in a home with him.

To adopt or meet Spud, please message us or fill out the adoption application located on our Linktree site pinned to the top of our page. You can also request an application at [email protected].
