Est. 1949. YMCA Camp Grady Spruce offers Outdoor Education, Family and Group Retreats and Resident Summer Camp.

Located on the beautiful Possum Kingdom Lake in Graford, Texas, Camp Grady Spruce is an ACA accredited co-ed overnight camp providing campers of all ages with opportunities to participate in exceptional outdoor experiences through year-round programs.

Early Wednesday, we opened our gate for crews working the hills as Ross Fire continued to burn through Palo Pinto and Jack Counties.

Camp remained safe and we were honored to be a place for crews from the Corsicana, Keller, Klein, North Richland Hills, Mesquite and Dallas Fire Departments to get a little reprieve in a shower, bunk to rest a bit and a lunch prepared by our staff and lead chef, Nick Ramirez.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with all the crews working tirelessly to keep us safe and all those who have been affected by this devastating fire.

Ross Fire Update

At this time, Camp Grady Spruce is safe.

Out of an abundance of caution, we are currently evacuating all horses to the Palo Pinto County Livestock Association show barn, the emergency housing center for large animals. We are also making departure plans for people, in the event this becomes necessary.

We would like to take this time to send our heartfelt condolences to all those in our community who have been affected by this catastrophic wildfire damage. Our thoughts and prayers are with Worth Ranch and Longhorn Council, Scouting America, a special place that has impacted thousands of lives through their programs and beautiful landscape.

Outdoor Education season and David Touchon ARE BACK!

A note from David...

Greetings from Possum Kingdom. The Outdoor Education season is directly upon us, and there is much work to be done, again! Conservation, wildlife management, forestry and experiential education has always been a core tenet of my life, and the venue that Camp Grady Spruce offers are second to none in the state of Texas or the northern portion of the Texas Hill Country. I look forward to connecting and reconnecting with everyone to promote the mission of the YMCA through the expert application of the Outdoor Education program! See you at camp!

July’s Full ‘Buck Moon’ (Native American named marking when a buck’s antlers are fully growing) reached its peak illumination today. Be sure to watch the moon rise tonight and, in case you miss it, enjoy the moon near fully illuminated over Hell’s Gate last night!
