Update on Tonight’s Cross Country Meet from SV Athletic Director Brian Hanson

Southeast Valley Athletic Director Brian Hanson shared an important update received from Webster City regarding tonight’s cross country meet. Due to the predicted weather conditions, meet officials following guidance from the Boys Association, the meet starter/timer, and meet management have decided to adjust the evening’s schedule.

Because of the heat concerns, the JV boys and girls races have been dropped for tonight. However, to support teams still evaluating their varsity lineups, each school will be allowed to run up to 10 athletes in the varsity race. This change gives coaches the opportunity to include “bubble runners” and better assess where athletes stand early in the season.

The updated race times are as follows:

• Varsity Girls: 6:00 p.m.
• Varsity Boys: 6:40 p.m. (pushed back from the original start time)

Hanson emphasized that these adjustments were made with athlete safety as the top priority, given the expected conditions.

The Jaguars will take on Emmetsburg, South Central Calhoun, and Pocahontas Area. Best of luck to our players and coaches as they compete on their home court.
