Pumpkin Effort Recap – GES Panther Students & Community! 🎃

This year's Gowanda Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization event was a huge success! Over 500 pumpkins were distributed to Gowanda Central School District Panther students and their families, helping to spread fall cheer and support our community.

In addition to the pumpkins given out at the event, extra donations were shared with the Village of Cattaraugus and the Pinewood community, extending the spirit of giving beyond Gowanda.

We’re incredibly grateful to Meyer's Homegrown for their continued generosity and partnership. Their support allows us to keep moving forward with our End Gowanda Hunger mission—working together to ensure local families can enjoy festive, seasonal traditions while addressing community food insecurity.

Thank you to everyone who donated and joined in the fun! Your participation made this event a true celebration of community, kindness, and Panther pride. 💙🖤

Spirit of Gowanda 2025 Award Recipient!

We are honored to have received the annual Spirit of Gowanda Award!

The Spirit of Gowanda Award is given annually by the Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce to recognize individuals and organizations whose contributions significantly enhance the quality of life in the Village of Gowanda. Honorees embody a spirit of service, commitment, and dedication to the community.

This year’s recipient, Jim Enser, has played a vital role in advancing our mission of Ensering Hopes & Dreams, a charitable organization founded in 2021 by his son, Josh Enser, who is currently serving in the United States Army. In Josh’s absence, Jim has overseen our organization’s community-focused initiatives, which include combating local food insecurity through collaboration with The Gowanda Food Pantry Page, leading beautification projects throughout the village, and assisting both students and faculty within the Gowanda Central School District.

Through his leadership and dedication, Jim Enser exemplifies the very qualities that the Spirit of Gowanda Award seeks to honor. We extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation for this distinguished award and Jim's well-deserved recognition.

Have a great weekend, Gowanda!

Sweet Corn & Summer Smiles in Downtown Gowanda! 🌽

We had a blast donating over 100 dozen ears of free sweet corn at this month’s Gowanda Farmer & Artisan Market!

Main Street was buzzing all afternoon with the market in full summer bloom. Neighbors, families, and friends came out to shop local vendors, support community organizations, and enjoy the beautiful weather—perfect for handing out fresh sweet corn!

Our annual corn effort continues to fight local food insecurities in collaboration with The Gowanda Food Pantry Page. A huge thank-you goes to Meyer's Homegrown for making this year’s donation possible, and to everyone in the community who contributed to support future efforts. Free Sweet Corn on Main Street!

We’re excited to bring free sweet corn to this week’s Gowanda Farmer & Artisan Market — happening Thursday afternoon on Main Street!

Thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce, the summer market is back and better than ever. Local vendors will be lining downtown with handcrafted goods, fresh produce, and more — and we’ll be there with free sweet corn for the entire community to enjoy!

This marks the fourth year of our corn donation as part of our End Gowanda Hunger initiative, supporting both the Gowanda Food Pantry Page and local food access efforts.

A huge thank-you to Meyer's Homegrown, a family farm in Boston, NY, for partnering with us. Their continued support helps us keep food on the table for our friends, neighbors, and local families.

We hope to see you on Thursday! Have a great week, Gowanda!

Chang-Hu: Where Music & Mulch Fill the Air!

We beautified Chang-Hu Park just in time for this summer’s Music in the Park—part of our ongoing “Beautifying Gowanda” series!

Beautifying Gowanda is our seasonal program dedicated to improving public recreational areas across the village. Through outdoor maintenance and beautification, we aim to transform these spaces into more welcoming places for families and the entire community. With Music in the Park beginning this Thursday, we gave Chang-Hu Park a fresh new look to support the festivities!

Music in the Park is a beloved, month-long summer tradition featuring live performances from local bands. Every Thursday evening, the sound of great music fills the air as the village comes alive. Concerts are free and open to the public, with food and a 50/50 raffle offered by the Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hard at work weeding and mulching ahead of opening night. Invasive weeds were removed from the grounds, and fresh mulch was laid around the trees near the concert seating and the central flagpole display. Now, the stage is quite literally set for a season of sensational performances!

A huge thank-you to the volunteers who donated their time and effort throughout the past month to make this project possible. Your hard work and dedication are deeply appreciated. Special thanks as well to Barbara Nephew for her support in making this effort a success!

We’ll see you Thursday night for the first show featuring Paul Zittle! Have a great week, Gowanda!

Stepping into Life’s Next Chapter: Gowanda Class of 2025!

We were thrilled to present the Transcript for Success Award to over 25 Gowanda Central School District seniors!

Friday night’s graduation marked a memorable milestone for these hardworking young adults. Years of dedication, perseverance, and academic effort were on full display—and we were proud to support their journey through this meaningful award.

The Transcript for Success Award covers the cost of Jamestown Community College transcripts for students who earned college credit while in high school. We understand the challenge of excelling in college-level courses as a teenager—and the added frustration of having to pay out of pocket just to access those achievements. This award lifts that burden, ensuring their hard work doesn’t come with an extra price tag.

Congratulations once again to the more than 25 award recipients—and to the entire GCS Class of 2025!

Happy 4th of July, Gowanda!

Curtain Call for Senior Night 2025!

We were proud to take part in Gowanda Central School District’s Senior Night to honor this year’s exceptional seniors — including our very own award recipient!

Senior Night is a cherished annual tradition that celebrates the hard work, dedication, and achievements of GCS students as they prepare to graduate. The evening is filled with applause and admiration as awards are presented to recognize these remarkable young adults.

Among the honors presented was our unique contribution: The Road Less Traveled Award. Unlike traditional academic scholarships, this award supports a student who has chosen a path outside of college — stepping confidently into a career, trade, or other post-graduation journey.

This year’s award goes to Devan Giambrone, who is pursuing her passion as a future salon cosmetologist!

Congratulations to Devan and the entire GCS Class of 2025 — your future is bright! Have a great week, Gowanda!

Gowanda’s Memorial Day Remembrance 2025!

We were honored to participate in today’s Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony at St. John’s Park!

Main Street was alive with patriotic spirit as the parade stepped off, led by the George W. Stark Gowanda American LegionPost 409 Honor Guard. Gowanda Central School District’s band kept the rhythm, the Gowanda Shrine Club gave a crowd-pleasing performance, and the Gowanda Volunteer Fire Dept. made a powerful entrance downtown.

The parade concluded at St. John’s Park, where the community gathered to honor the military men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. The ceremony opened with a prayer, followed by remarks from Gowanda’s new mayor, Mark Nephew. Members of the American Legion placed flags in memory of those lost in every war, the victims of the September 11th terror attacks, and those still missing in action or held as prisoners of war.

This year marked our first time participating in the parade. Before the procession began, we helped prepare St. John’s Park for the remembrance ceremony. Patriotic decorations were placed throughout the park, including in its newest feature—a half-moon bed of four Kindred Spirit Oak trees. These trees are dedicated to four U.S. Army soldiers who tragically lost their lives in a March training accident while deployed in Lithuania: Staff Sergeant (SSG) Jose Duenez, SSG Edvin Franco, Private First Class Dante Taitano, and SSG Troy Knutson-Collins

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Schichtel’s Nursery, Moore in Zoar Lawn Care, and Hae Jude Custom Signs for helping make today’s tribute possible. Your continued support means the world to us.

Happy Memorial Day, Gowanda!
