Taking the time to intentionally affirm one anotherā€™s unique gifts and see Godā€™s hand in your teamā€™s unity is a powerful way to build morale and foster a strong, supportive staff culture. We did this last night by completing a ā€œgratefulness web.ā€ Each staff member shared something and offered up praise to God as we ā€œspunā€ our web.

During our gospel sharing session we broke out into small groups that rotated between some of our leaders who taught different ways we can share the gospel. Aedan shared through the circle method, June shared by creating wordless gospel bracelets, Graycee shared through finding different objects around camp (such as one of our fire pits) and connecting it to the gospel, and Sierra explained the lyrics to a song and connected it to scripture, and Michael led people through the Romanā€™s road. What is your favorite way to share the gospel?

Teamwork and effective communication are both important goals for our summer staff to have. We desire for them to be unified in Christ, to teach them life skills, and to have the ability to teach campers about how they overcome lifeā€™s challenges. We also canā€™t do this life alone. We need one another. This activity shows how working together is one way we can show Godā€™s love to the world that is watching.

Our first full training day the staff had bonding time by playing a game called ā€œformationsā€ where the staff has to look at a picture and mimic it with their teams.

We also worked on some work projects to get the camp ready for our campers. Assembling new bunk beds, moving wood to make it more organized, and digging holes for some poles for our axe throwing targets were just a few things we began working on as a staff.

We shared about worshiping God and included some sword drills. Have you ever done sword drills? Does this bring back some good memories for you?

Finally, we finished the night contemplating what it means to be bored and how we use our time. Do we use time wisely? Look at the beautiful stars we got to see last night. Would you miss that looking down at your phone? Contemplate this yourself as you step into these summer months.
