Sadie, a five year old black Labrador mix, escaped from a vacation home in San Diego and was swept into the ocean by a strong rip current. Her family didn't realize she was missing until later, when they checked her AirTag and saw the signal coming from near the water.
Lifeguards were alerted immediately and launched a search using boats and jet skis. For nearly an hour, Sadie struggled to stay afloat in rough conditions, drifting farther offshore while the team followed the moving signal.
Just as the search was close to ending, a jet ski crew spotted her still moving in the waves. Rescuers pulled her onto a surf rescue boat, wrapped her in blankets, and brought her safely back to shore, where she was reunited with her family.
