On the night of May 27, 2019, a historic tornado outbreak produced 19 tornadoes across Ohio in just a matter of hours.
Between 10:41 PM and 11:13 PM, the strongest tornado of the night, an EF4 with winds reaching 170 MPH, tore across the Dayton area. The tornado remained on the ground for over 18 miles and grew to nearly 1,050 yards wide as it moved through Brookville, Trotwood, Dayton, Riverside, and surrounding communities leaving catastrophic destruction behind.
This was before American Regulators USA officially existed, but a few of our current teammates responded to assist with recovery efforts in the weeks that followed. One teammate was directly impacted and still stepped forward to help others through a local church recovery effort.
That night changed lives forever, but it also revealed the strength of a community determined to rebuild together.
Tonight, we remember the lives impacted, the responders and volunteers who stepped forward, and the resilience Dayton showed in the difficult years that followed.
Never forget Dayton. 🌪️
