We are SO proud of our WAFO youth!

Sandra Sanchez (S.S. Seward High School), Jossimar Lima (Goshen High School), and Rodrigo Martinez (Goshen High School) have been recognized by the Orange County Youth Bureau with a Certificate of Honor for Outstanding Leadership, Volunteerism & Citizenship (Grades 9–12).

These three have given so much of themselves to our community. Apart from their involvement in our youth programs, Sandra has shown up all year to tutor for Homework Club, Rodrigo has volunteered at the WAFO food pantry, and both Rodrigo and Jossimar have served as youth community health workers — helping educate community members on diabetes.

This award is so well deserved! Congratulations, Sandra, Jossimar, and Rodrigo!

WAFO Launches Pine Island Walking Club

Yesterday, during youth Legislative Day, two of our youth had the opportunity to represent the Warwick Area Farmworker Organization in Albany. They met with local legislators to advocate for the Orange County Youth Bureau and the funding that makes our programs possible.

It was inspiring to hear them share how our youth programs, including the boys and girls clubs and the Dulce Esperanza Summer Camp have positively impacted their lives, and why it is so important that these opportunities continue for them and for other families in our community.
