Babygirl Foundation

Babygirl Foundation Babygirl Foundation is a Maine based 501(c)(3) charitable organization created by Tammy & David Dube https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/babygirlfoundation

Our story started back in July of 2008, when our daughter Addison was born. We knew right away that we were starting down a long and challenging journey. When Addison was less than a week old she was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome. As a result, we spent the first month in the hospital, mostly in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit caring for her. After countless

tests, procedures, surgeries and hopeful thoughts we decided to bring Addison home. There was nothing left to try, so we packed up and left for home with Addison not expected to survive the short car ride home. In true Addison style and with her fighting spirit, we were fortunate to get 10 birthdays with her. We witnessed her defy the odds with every moment and inspire all who were lucky to know her. In those 10 years, we spent hundreds of nights and days in the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital's various units. When Addison's brother was born in April of 2013, logistics became overwhelming as her time in the hospital became more frequent. The resulting years were incredibly difficult and draining on our small family to find any type of normalcy. Through all the challenges, Addison was the sweetest little girl with a smile that brightened up the room. Addison has inspired us in so many ways including our desire to try and make things a little easier for the many other families going through the same struggles. We are starting this foundation with the dream and hope that Addison’s loving memory can live on through the Babygirl Foundation while helping those living through the same challenges now.

We are so incredibly grateful for our amazing sponsors. Quite simply, we would not be able to do what we do without them.

The Babygirl Foundation exists because of a community that chooses to show up for families during some of their hardest days. Our sponsors help us keep the Parent’s Closets stocked, provide meals and snacks in the Family Room, and fill our Book Nooks with stories that bring comfort and connection.

We recently asked one of our longtime supporters, Eric from Jordan Rentals, why supporting the Babygirl Foundation is important to him:

“We were inspired to start supporting Babygirl Foundation after seeing Tammy on the local news talking about her mission. We quickly made a couple connections. First, we had just lost our daughter Emersyn to leukemia. Emersyn (aka Emmy) had a rare disease called A-T that led to her getting cancer. Like Tammy’s story, we spent a lot of time in the hospital and sometimes you didn’t have time to plan. We felt like supporting this cause would be a great way to honor Emmy and to help other people going through a difficult time. Secondly, seeing Tammy on the news and seeing the name, we realized that Tammy had rented from us in the past! We are so happy to be supporting Babygirl Foundation and plan to for years to come.”

Stories like Eric and Emmy’s remind us that behind every act of generosity is a story, a connection, and a desire to make things a little easier for another family.

Why do our Babygirl Foundation Maine Marathon relay teams run? 🤍

We recently asked two of our board members, who are running as part of our Babygirl Foundation relay teams for the Maine Marathon, why this mission matters so deeply to them.

“One of our runners shared that after her own son spent time in the NICU, she experienced firsthand the fear, uncertainty, and emotional toll families face during difficult hospital stays. Running for Babygirl Foundation gives her a sense of purpose — a way to support families walking through similar moments while honoring the incredible strength and resilience of children and caregivers. She shared that knowing her miles can help provide hope and support makes every step meaningful.”

Another board member shared:

“I run the Maine Marathon for the community, connections, and awareness it brings to Babygirl Foundation. The more people who see us and hear about our mission, the more lives we can touch. Being able to offer small comforts to families in the hospital makes a huge impact.”

Every mile run helps us continue supporting families through The Parent’s Closet, Family Room meals and snacks, and our Book Nooks. We are so grateful for these amazing runners choosing to dedicate their training and miles to our mission.

Help our runners raise awareness and support for families facing unexpected hospital stays by following along on social media and supporting our teams here:

Our June Book Nook pick for the NICU is such a fun read! 📚🌊

A huge thank you to one of our favorites, Dr. Zanno, and her kids for choosing this month’s book — Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee by Chris Van Dusen.

This exciting story follows Mr. Magee and his dog, Dee, as they head out on what seems like a simple boat trip… until they run into a very big surprise in the ocean! Filled with fun rhymes, colorful illustrations, adventure, and plenty of laughs, this book is perfect for reading aloud together.

It’s funny, a little suspenseful (but not scary!), full of whales, and one of those stories kids will want to hear again and again. We absolutely love sharing these monthly picks with families during their hospital stay. 🤍

Help us keep books like these stocked on our Book Nook shelves all month long. Every donation helps bring comfort, connection, and moments of joy to families when they need it most.

The hospital doesn’t take the summer off — and neither do the families we support. 🤍
Every day, parents and caregivers are facing unexpected hospital stays, long nights, and difficult moments alongside their children. Through The Babygirl Foundation, we work year-round to provide comfort, essentials, meals, books, and support to help make those days a little easier.
As summer begins, the need continues. Help us make sure our shelves stay stocked and our programs remain available for families all season long.

At The Babygirl Foundation, we believe every family deserves to feel seen, supported, safe, and cared for exactly as they are. 🌈

This Pride Month, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and honor the many parents, caregivers, children, staff, volunteers, and supporters who make our community stronger through love, authenticity, and compassion.

When families are facing difficult hospital stays, kindness and inclusion matter deeply. We are committed to creating spaces of comfort and support for all families — always.

Happy Pride Month from all of us at the Babygirl Foundation. 🤍🏳️‍🌈

Sometimes, it’s the little things that matter the most. 🤍

We received this beautiful message from a staff member this morning after stocking one of the family snack baskets:

A mom shared how much the available snacks and meals have been helping her during her child’s hospital stay. In those moments, when stress is high and you may not feel hungry but know you still need to eat, having something simple and accessible can make such a difference.

With our latest drop-off, the basket was filled with a mix of comforting options — mac & cheese, ramen, ravioli, fig bars, granola bars, and beef sticks — offering families a little choice, a little comfort, and a reminder that they are cared for.

These moments remind us why we are here and why we continue doing this work. Thank you to our incredible community for helping us support families in the smallest, yet often most meaningful, ways.
