For anyone who remembers Zeka, she had HORRIBLE thunder anxiety. Many nights she would wake us up with her uncontrollable shaking and trying to get under the covers to hide.
We use the techniques discussed in this video to help her remain calm and relaxed through the storms. Just the other day, Odie was anxious during a particularly strong thunderstorm and with the help of applying calming oils and some Reiki, he fell asleep within 10 minutes.

I am always blown away at the results I see.

Our sweet little Miss Sadie had a surprise visitor today for Valentine’s Day 💝. While I was at my grandson’s house taking care of him, the gentleman who took care of Sadie when she was first came into the care of the Orange County Humane Society stopped by for a social call to see how Sadie is doing. He also left a donation for us which of course we greatly appreciate 🥰🥰

Let's talk arthritis.

Do you have a pet that has been diagnosed with arthritis?
This is something we deal with on the daily with the senior dogs in our care here at the sanctuary.

There are many ways we can manage the discomfort that this creates for our beloved pets from anti-imflamatorys, pain meds, and injectibles prescribed by our Veterinarians to foods and suppliments that ease those achey joints, and trust me, we have tried them all.

These days, we opt for the more holistic approach over pharmaceuticals as the side effects of these drugs often have adverse effects that take away from the quality of life we strive to achieve for our pups.

And while there is always a time and a place when they are the best option for a particular issue, we prefer to opt for other modalities first, when appropriate.

Here's how we support joint health and relieve pain and discomfort for our elder residents. (All these are great for people too!)

Glucosamine with Condrointin and MSM
A good quality Omega-3
Golden Paste/Turmeric
Therapeutic Essential Oils
Reiki

According to the FDA some dogs have had to be euthanized and others have died as a result of the the side effects of the drug.

At the beginning of every year, I go through the supply closet and do some reorganizing. Walking down memory lane and shedding a few tears for all the incredible dogs that have passed through our lives.
Each one brought with them a unique lesson and influenced how we do our work today. There are too many to list but suffice it to say, our hearts are full of the bits and pieces each one left behind for us to remember them by.
