Happy happy holidays everyone! I hope that you’re running around and crazy shopping is done and you’re going to be able to really enjoy this magical time of the year with friends and family!
As many of you know, I work in animal rescue and unfortunately, next month and February become the busiest month for us! People get pets for Christmas and then they decide that they don’t have the time or the ability to care for them and so they wind up, taking them to shelters or asking rescues to take them .
So I have a couple of requests: first, please don’t give anyone a pet for a Christmas present. If people want a pet, they can pick one the best suits their lifestyle and their needs. Second before you get a pet for Christmas make sure you research the breed of dog or about the animal that you’re planning to adopt whether it’s a ferret or a cat or a hamster or a gerbil so that you know what’s required to be a responsible pet parent. Make sure that your budget allows for you to be able to make sure that that pet Can be fed and can receive medical care when necessary. I would even advise you if you get a pet to open a savings account and throw $10 a month in there or $10 a week in there or whatever you can afford and save it as an emergency fund because unfortunately veterinarian bills can get very expensive very quickly . You may even want to look into pet insurance. Make sure that you research the company that you’re purchasing it from carefully so that you clearly understand what it covers. There are some great companies out there and there are some that are not so great.
Finally, like I always do if you’re looking for a charitable donation for the end of the year, I would ask that you consider supporting our charity:
LME CLAWZ & PAWZ & The House that Moo Built. We are a 5013C charity that is an excellent standing with the IRS and we are one of the few charities out there that spends zero and I mean zero money on overhead that means we don’t pay any staff we don’t charge any supplies other than dog food, dog beds, towels, etc. that aren’t donated, and medical care for the dogs. 100% of your donation goes to their food their medical care and whatever supplies we can’t get donated so you can rest easy that your donations go directly to the animals in our care
I have put our Zelle and Venmo information in the comments if you’d like to donate and I can send you a receipt for your taxes as well. If you’ve got a friend who has absolutely everything who’s an animal lover, consider making a donation in his or her name will be happy to send them a card Thanking them and you! Thank you again so much and happy happy holidays to you and your loved ones!
