We are pleased to announce that our ESNA construction crew has successfully completed 32 composting latrines for rural families in the Parcelación San José community in the San Julián district of Sonsonate Este. Our team is currently working on building new Justa (eco-friendly) stoves. More pictures of the stoves will follow in the coming days.

For many rural families, a lack of sanitation and clean water is a major barrier to economic growth and improved living conditions. Contaminated drinking water supplies put millions of people at risk of illness and death. Sanitation-related illnesses cause approximately 2.2 million deaths each year worldwide.

As a result, as ESNA, we are working with incredible institutions and walking alongside rural families in need of proper sanitation.

Composting latrines are waterless systems that convert human waste into safe, nutrient-dense organic matter. They do not contaminate aquifers; when used correctly, they do not emit unpleasant odors and provide a sense of dignity.

Check out the photos below, which show each step of the latrine construction process.

Amigos de Colorado returned home three days ago. Many El Bebedero families will cherish memories of friendship, love, and solidarity for the rest of their lives.

The two recipient families can now live with dignity in their new homes, knowing they will not be affected by wind or rain like they were in their previous homes. Until next year, friends.

Thank you to Juanita, Beth, Elise, Diane, Danene, Kirk, Jacob, Justin, and Lakyn!!
