"Good morning, my name is Irma Edith, and first and foremost, I want to thank God for allowing me to benefit from this stove. Thank you to all of the donors for your generosity, kind hearts, and willingness to assist us with this stove. I really wanted one because the one I had was no longer working. I saw others with this stove, and thank God, I now have one as well. Thank you so much, and many blessings to you! Please continue to help others, as I know many families also need them!"

This week Gene Pedersen, founder of Tools for Opportunity, and his wife Nita Upchurch, traveled to El Salvador to meet with past training and tools recipients from three communities and present them with Certificates of Merits for honoring their Agreements. In part, purpose of this trip was also to inform many that Gene was no longer going to continue as president of Tools for Opportunity; in fact not too long ago he was looking for someone to step up and take over TFO.

ESNA Village Network is honored to continue Gene Pedersen's great work. ESNA's mission of creating sustainable rural livelihoods encompasses numerous elements. Education, training, and the proper tools are among the most important items. Computers, farming, wood and metalworking, sewing, language, and other tools are available to rural families, but without education and training, they are of little use. With the assistance of Gene, Dennis LaRoque, and their team, and supporters like you, ESNA intends to continue and expand the dream and vision of Tools for Opportunity.

Beginning October 29, ESNA will continue TFO's work with 18 new students and potential business startups in each TFO class! Stay tuned!

Help us welcome Gene Pedersen and Nita Upchurch to El Salvador! They will spend the next five days visiting four communities in El Salvador, where men and women have been given training and tools to help them improve their living conditions. Nita Upchurch last traveled to El Salvador 14 years ago! Even though she hadn't been to the country in a long time, none of the previous trips or workshop trainings would have been possible without her exceptional logistical abilities!
