🦇 Missouri’s Bats
Missouri is home to 14 species of bats, each playing a unique role in the health of our forests, caves, and waterways.
This illustration highlights a selection of representative bat species found across the state — from cave-dwelling myotis to tree-roosting bats commonly seen in Ozark woodlands. Some are familiar, others increasingly rare, and several are now endangered due to habitat loss and disease.
Understanding which bats live here is an important first step toward protecting them — and the ecosystems they quietly support every night.
