The Goodman Armstrong Creek (GAC) Lions Club hosted a free Maple Porky Pancake breakfast on Sunday March 29th. The breakfast was the capstone event for “Sappy Days: A Wisconsin Maple Syrup Experience”.

During breakfast, 14 vendors from Armstrong Creek, Blackwell, Fence and Goodman showcased their maple syrup, homemade crafts and baked goods. One of the vendors demonstrated their 3-D printer as well as many amazing 3-D printed products. There was even a “tattoo parlor” for young visitors (and those young at heart).

The breakfast and market offered people the opportunity to shop and visit with their neighbors as well as meet visitors from as far away as Chicago, Milwaukee and Green Bay.

Erin Olson, the owner of Northwoods Unicorn from Blackwell, provided all of the maple syrup for the breakfast. It was SO good! Gudowicz’s Marathon of Armstrong Creek generously donated butter and milk for the hungry crowd.

The Goodman Armstrong Creek (GAC) Lions Club started February off with a bang by hosting the 19th annual Predator Hunt & Gun and Meat Raffle. The event was held on February 1st at Rocque’s 8-Hi Club where 350 pounds of meat and 9 guns were won by locals as well as people from all over the United States. Stan Maruszczak from Armstrong Creek was the big gun winner.

Two Trapping Teams and six Calling Teams collected a total of 29 predators. Hunters from Armstrong Creek, Monico and Wabeno as well as teams from as far away as Oostburg and Rubicon competed for cash prizes and bragging rights.

Predator hunts in Wisconsin are conducted to manage predator populations and reduce competition for prey. Hunting is also a significant part of Wisconsin's history, culture, and economy.

The funds raised by the GAC Lions Club are used for a variety of humanitarian and community projects.

The following are the Predator Hunt winners:

The Goodman Armstrong Creek (GAC) Lions Club generously donated $1,000.00 to support replacing the GAC High School football scoreboard.

This donation helped in raising the necessary funds for replacing the GAC football field scoreboard. Not working for some time, and despite efforts to repair the scoreboard, it was deemed irreparable. Along with the GAC school district, Samantha Smith coordinated efforts and reached out to local organizations to secure donations to cover the cost of replacement. Thanks to so many generous donors, the new scoreboard has been ordered and will be installed by local volunteers before the start of the football season this fall. Go Patriots!

The Goodman Armstrong Creek Lions Club recently hosted their Annual Senior Christmas Dinner. Not even the chill in the air could keep our Seniors from enjoying a Holiday meal and camaraderie at the Armstrong Creek Community Center! Entertainment was provided by John Gorgol who played Christmas tunes on his accordion. A full turkey dinner was served, along with homemade rolls made by several of our Lions! Meals were also delivered to the homes of those who could not join us. And leftovers were sent to Maplewood Villa, a residential assisted living community. A good time was had by all!
