It was an exceptionally warm and sunny day for January.☀️A great day to get out and visit Goodlettsville's all-inclusive park, Rachel's Garden, and many took advantage!

2025 was the year of Rachel’s Garden. 🌷The beautiful all-inclusive city park opened in September in the City of Goodlettsville after nearly nine years of meticulous planning, fundraising, grant writing, and community collaboration. Throughout the years, each public discussion about the project was met with unwavering positivity and encouragement, which fueled our determination to make it a reality. As the park's layout and equipment took shape, our excitement grew, and the community shared our enthusiasm. The grand opening exceeded our expectations, drawing a crowd that surpassed our wildest dreams. The park's purpose is to provide a space where children of all abilities can play, laugh, and interact together, fostering a sense of inclusivity and community. The park has become a hub of activity, filled with children every day, a testament to the power of collective effort. In our lives goals are the driving force behind all of our accomplishments, enabling us to push beyond perceived limitations and strive for excellence. The Goodlettsville Fire Department and the Rachel’s Garden Committee extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who contributed to the realization of our all-inclusive city park goal.

We may have gray weather but that doesn’t stop visits to colorful Rachel’s Garden park. This morning the sun came out and so did guests. The park was full at lunch time!
So spectacular to see how people love this park. 🌷🌷

Rachel’s Garden, so beautiful, even on a late fall day. This morning the park had so many people enjoying the fun before the rain! Bring your friends and enjoy this all inclusive park.

We are still over the moon at the warm and wonderful reactions we continue to see from people after a visit to Rachel’s Garden! From Facebook to Tiktok comments are everywhere!
The park is full of joyous faces and the sounds of laughter every day.

🌺🌸Rachel’s Garden Update🌺🌸

Rachel’s Garden was built with a story. 🌳💙

Rachel’s Garden Playground was inspired by Rachel West, daughter of Fire Captain Ricky West and lifelong Goodlettsville resident. Rachel’s testimony revealed the need for a place where children of all physical and cognitive abilities could play side-by-side. Her story moved hearts and planted the seed for what would become a landmark for our community.

In 2016, the City of Goodlettsville Fire Department Kid’s Christmas Charity stepped forward, establishing a separate 501(c)(3) account to support the dream of Rachel’s Garden. The City dedicated land in Peay Park, and with the leadership of the City Manager and City Commission, matching funds were secured for a state grant from TDEC – ORec Division.

But the true magic came from you — the citizens and businesses of Goodlettsville. Through grassroots fundraising and generous giving, over $1.7 million was raised, with half of that total coming directly from our community. Once again, Goodlettsville showed what can happen when neighbors come together.

Now, nearly a decade later, that dream is a reality. At more than 20,000 square feet, Rachel’s Garden will be a premier inclusive playground destination in Middle Tennessee, ensuring that every child — regardless of ability — has a place to laugh, grow, and belong.
