Working with another Scout completing the Eagle requirements. Did a little tree clearing tonight.

Eagle projects develop leadership qualities and project management skills in the young person completing the task. That is why we have been involved in at least 7 Eagle projects over the last 3 years.

We will be doing another cleanup this Saturday at the same location we worked last week.

We will do two shifts. Both will require long pants and closed toed shoes. We will do an early shift from 8-10 AM and then an evening from 5:30-8. We will meet at Faith PCA in Goodlettsville (372 Caldwell Road).

Our goal this weekend will be to clear the driveway 3’ back and approx 8’ high. It will be a big task. We will provide PPE (gloves, masks, safety glasses) and equipment (w**d eaters, blowers, trimmers (gas and manual), rakes, etc.). Please comment or message if you can join us!

Dolly Parton was an inspiration to so many. Her quote, “You'll never do a whole lot unless you're brave enough to try,” is a testament to the spirit that brought her the success she experienced throughout her lifetime. If Dolly dreamed it, she knew she could accomplish it. She was uncommonly courageous.

She was generous and compassionate, resilient and determined. In spite of her stardom, she was genuine and grounded. She was quick to laugh and lend a hand. And she was open with her faith in God.

The world will miss her. She also said, “If you see someone without a smile today, give them yours.” Maybe if we were quicker to smile, to be kind, even when we disagree, our communities would be stronger.

So today or tomorrow, maybe every day, be courageous, be compassionate, be resilient, smile more, .

Rest in peace Dolly. We will always love you. Thank you for the grace with which you lived your life.

Making progress! Thank you volunteers who came out to serve tonight as we begin to clean up this yard for a Goodlettsville neighbor who needs our help. We cleared trees and w**ds around the home (look through all the pictures to see the difference). We accomplished more than we anticipated on our first work day, though we were reminded that we worked an extra 15 minutes. That has to be why we clear more than we set out to clear today!

Thank you Drew, Tammie, Amanda, and Tracy! You served with excellence and showed what it means to .

There will be many chances to serve on this project. We anticipate doing two shifts next Saturday, August 29, 8-10 AM and 5-7:30 PM. Let us know if you can help and check back for other service opportunities.

Also, our new mini skid steer (affectionately know as Jack-Jack) was a great help as we cleared a significant portion of the yard.

We will meet at Faith Presbyterian (372 Caldwell Drive, Goodlettsville) and head to the site at 5 PM today, August 22. We will have equipment (rakes, trimmers, etc.) we do have gloves and safety glasses, however, feel free to bring your own. I know it will be warm but this is important, wear long pants and closed toed shoes or boots.
