๐ŸฅŽ A Better View for the Next Generation

Some community improvements aren't about building something newโ€”they're about making something good even better. Thanks to a grant from SCCF, improvements were made to the softball field at Centennial Park, including new dugouts and a permanent outfield fence.

For years, players, coaches, and fans have dealt with crowded dugouts and sightlines that made it difficult to see key plays from the bleachers. The new dugouts provide more space for athletes and equipment while improving visibility for spectators. The addition of a permanent 200-foot outfield fence also creates a safer and more consistent playing environment, eliminating the need for temporary fencing during the high school season.

While these upgrades will benefit the Goodland High School softball program, their impact extends far beyond one team. The improvements will also serve GAC youth leagues, adult leagues, and countless players who will take the field in the years ahead.

This project is another example of what can happen when local organizations, community partners, and supporters work together to improve the places where we gather, compete, and make memories. Because sometimes community impact looks like a better seat in the bleachers, a safer field, and more room for the next generation to play.

Time travel is real at the foundation office! โณ Dropping by is an absolute must right now.

We have had this incredible photo hanging in the office forever, and it always sparks a massive debate. Everyone knows itโ€™s the basement of the Goodland Carnegie Arts Center, but nobody could name the kids in it.

Cue the experts! A couple of lovely young ladies from the Class of โ€™70 stopped by recently and blew the case wide open. It turns out most of these kids graduated from GHS in 1970!

Come stop by our office, take a look, and help us spot the rest! ๐ŸŽ“

๐Ÿ”ฆ The Projects You Don't Always See

Not every grant-funded project is something you can walk through, play on, or take a picture beside. Sometimes it's the behind-the-scenes infrastructure that helps community events happen in the first place.

Thanks to a grant from SCCF, the Northwest Kansas District Free Fair and several community partners have constructed four Portable Lighting Towers with Drop Electrical Systems to support events throughout Sherman County.

These towers provide portable lighting and electrical access in locations where permanent infrastructure is limited or unavailable. They'll be used for events like the Northwest Kansas District Free Fair, Flatlander Fall Festival, concerts in the park, demolition derbies, and other community gatherings.

What makes this project especially unique is that it was designed and built locally. Community organizations, volunteers, and partners worked together to create a practical solution tailored to the needs of Sherman County.

The towers may not be the star of the show, but they'll help thousands of residents and visitors enjoy the events that are.

๐Ÿ“š A Cozy Corner for Curious Minds โค๏ธ

Thanks to SCCF grant funding, an underused corner of the school library is now a cozy Book Nook where students can curl up with a good book. The project included comfortable seating, new floor cushions, and new books to help fill a brand-new bookshelf.

The best part? Students are already using it. In fact, it's quickly became a favorite hangout for young readers before the end of the school year. Just look at those smiles ๐Ÿ˜Š
