The Goodhue Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire this morning, finding a barn fully engulfed in flames upon arrival. Firefighters successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to adjacent structures, although the barn itself was a total loss. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained. We extend our sincerest gratitude to the assisting agencies and personnel who braved sub-zero temperatures, including the Zumbro Falls Fire Department, Lake City Fire Department, Lake City Ambulance, Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, Fitzgerald Excavating & Trucking, and Xcel Energy. Additionally, we appreciate the Goodhue Lions Club's generous donation of soup and refreshments for our crew. Our dept would also like to thank the quick thinking and very kind neighbors who came to get livestock out of the barn and moved to help us. Neighbors are great! We thank you for your steadfast support and contributions. Today's open house brought fire prevention week to a close on a high note. This week saw our department interacting with and educating elementary students from Goodhue Public School and St. John's Lutheran School. We also conducted a number of station tours. Your ongoing community support is greatly appreciated.
