Goochland's American Legion family hosted the Americanism Essay contest winners at the Legion meeting Tuesday night. It's always amazing to hear what the students think about America and our veterans. Congratulations to all of them!

American Legion Auxiliary's Essay contest is starting. Open to any student grades 3 through 12. I've attached the form that MUST be used. Essays will be collected mid-February, final date not yet determined. Contact us if you have questions.

We were honored to be part of helping to dress the rooms at the new Liberation Veterans Village. Grand opening is Tuesday, a perfect way to celebrate Veterans Day.

Goochland Community Cats is holding a FOOD DRIVE During the Christmas Marketplace Bazaar held on September 27th at the American Legion Hall on River Road west. The marketplace runs from 9 to 2 pm. Entrance is free. Bring a donation of cat food and receive a free RAFFLE ticket to the Bazaars Raffle!! Raffle prizes awarded at the end of the event.
Dry food: Meow Mix, Friskies, Nine Lives; Wet food: Friskies Pate.

last night was special as two of our students were recognized by the School Board. Liam F. and Skylar M. both won 1st places in the contest Nationally. They were also the only two students in Virginia to place this highly. Congratulations to both of them!

Yesterday we were able to tour the under construction new Liberation Veterans Village. It will house 50 veterans in simple dorm style rooms; set up for handicap veterans also. It was an amazing place to see. So impressive to see how much is done already. The two story portion is where the veterans will live. The single story houses the kitchen areas and the common areas as well as office space. Not sure when they will move in.
