What an unforgettable night! Grant Reading 2026 was everything we hoped it would be and more.

Last night at Mike Anderson's on Hwy. 30, we had the incredible honor of awarding grants to the educators who dedicate their lives to inspiring, encouraging, and shaping the next generation. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to give back to the teachers who give so much of themselves every single day.

To our amazing team, our team members' families, Mike Anderson's, our generous sponsors, team members from other Leadership Ascension groups, and every person who came out to support this mission—thank you. Your generosity, encouragement, and belief in what we're doing made this night possible.

We cannot wait to see the impact these grants will have in our classrooms and on our students. To our teachers, thank you for everything you do for our schools and our community. You are changing lives every single day, and it is an honor to celebrate you.

This week we're shining the spotlight on Austin Percival, a dedicated member of the Pencils & Possibilities team and a part of the BASF family.

Austin brings a strong commitment to teamwork, service, and creating a lasting impact within our community. He believes that teachers are the backbone of education and understands the important role they play in shaping the next generation. His passion for supporting educators comes from recognizing the time, dedication, and heart teachers pour into their students every single day.

Through Pencils & Possibilities, Austin is proud to help provide teachers with the support and resources they need to continue creating meaningful learning experiences in classrooms across Ascension Parish. His dedication to giving back helps move our mission forward and strengthens the connection between our community, educators, and students.

When he’s not serving the community, Austin enjoys spending time with his family and has a fun fact you might not expect — he grew up on an island surrounded by water but didn’t learn how to swim until he was an adult when his kids started taking swimming lessons!
