The three Tredle Hammers were made entirely in the Goliad Forge blacksmithing shop by Brett Weaver, Gary Richards and Otto Bluntzer. the Tredle Hammers required 5 months of work during which there were some design changes. All plans, materials orders and related information were stored for future reference. Each machine was tested.

This Saturday, February 7 members will be giving the Goliad Forge's newly restored trailer bed a coat of wood sealer. Also, members will be moving 5 Kw generator into the museum. On the agenda is cleaning and clearing additional space in the main blacksmith shop.

Anyone who would like to visit The Goliad Forge are welcome any Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The Annual Taste of Goliad will be held on February 5 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Goliad Auditorium. This knife will be featured in the silent auction. A Camper Skinner style knife, it was crafted by The Goliad Forge founder, Otto Bluntzer. The knife is valued at over $450.

Funds raised will go to the Goliad Volunteer Departments and to the Goliad Senior Citizens' Center.

This Saturday, January 31, at 9:00 The Goliad Forge will see the final stages of making a knife. This knife is being donated to the Goliad Astron Club's, Taste of Goliad. The Goliad Chamber of Commerce came to The Goliad Forge Mini-Conference/Hammer In November 22, 2025 for the ribbon cutting ceremony for The Goliad Forge Teaching Museum. Blacksmiths and those interested in blacksmithing traveled from nearby towns and cities with one person traveling from Rochester, New York.

8:00 - 10:00 a.m. Sign In, small group tours, and demonstations by The Goliad Forge (TGF) & volunteers

10:00 Main meeting

Following the main meeting until lunch - Demonstrations as time permits

12:00 p.m. - Lunch (Bring your own bag lunch.) Some drinks will be provided

1:00 p.m. - Demonstrations imay include Induction Forge Work, Foundry Work, Forging of a Caduceus, and Desgn and Construction of a Charcoal Retort Burner

Brennan Keese from Mathis, Texas loves forging. He forged this rose under the mentorship of Otto Bluntzer, forgemaster of The Goliad Forge. Brennen worked many days on this rose for someone special in his life. He completed the rose on October 25, 2025.

The Goliad Forge Meeting Agenda October 25, 2025

8:00-9:00 a.m. - Arrival and visitng
9:00-10:00 a.m. Preliminary viewing of the Blacksmith Shop and Museum followed by a group meeting
After the meeting - Tour of museum's displays & equipment (This may include some preliminary project crafting)

12:00- LUNCH = Bring your own lunch (Water & drinks provided for blacksmiths)

1:00-3:00 p..m. Demonstrations:
* Forging with an "Induction Forge"
* Forging of a "Caduceus" (Medical symbol)
* Building an efficient "Charcoal Retort Burner"
* Aluminum casting

3:00 p.m. - Each participant will be given a ticket upon arrival for a drink and drawing. The drawing will be held at 3:00 p.m. and each of 3 winners will receive an item crafted in the shop.

Special guests have been invited for the afternoon. Visitors are encouraged to come, espeically if they are interested in blacksmithing.
