Meet a Mason: Past Master ('23) Kris Karnei
You can find Kris down at the lodge pretty much any day it is open, making the coffee, greeting others and making sure if something needs to be addressed, it is. Kristofer is a fourth generation Mason, and prior non-commissioned officer in the in the Texas Army National Guard, who loves the brotherhood and fellowship that being a Mason so greatly embodies. Serving his country he so greatly respects, and helping those around him have always been two very defining qualities that Kris exudes. Kristofer is a loving husband to wife Jamie, and an awesome dad to their three children.
Where are you from? Born and raised in Goliad, Texas!
When/where did you join your blue lodge? I became an EA in September of 2018, and was raised in March of 2019 here in Goliad Lodge #94.
What roles have you played in your blue lodge? I have been Senior Deacon, Junior Warden, Senior Warden, Worshipful Master, and I am currently Marshall here in Goliad. I am currently the District Education officer for District #36.
What is your profession? Production manager for an organic fertilizer additive company, based out of Goliad.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Masonry? My personal favorite thing to do is to confer degrees, and dive into the esoteric and exoteric meanings behind the works.
Describe masonry in three words. Betterment. Discovery. Charity
If you could be any animal, what would it be and why? I’m already a turtle so, Y.B.Y.S.A.I.A….is the reason.
Do you belong to another Masonic group or appendages of Masonry? Yes, I belong to Cuero lodge #409 (Senior deacon), Victoria lodge #40 (Senior Warden), La Bajia Grotto (Treasurer/Secretary), and I have been accepted and am waiting on my first degree in York Rite.
What are your goals as a Mason? To take the good therein and expound upon it. To better myself, and those around me. To seek the deeper meaning and truths in the hidden, and help those around me and myself shine as bright as we can.
My favorite Masonic memory? Getting to sit in lodge with my grandpa before he passed away. I know I sat in lodge with my grandpa at least twice, possibly more, but it was while I was in the blur of going through the degrees, so I know two for sure. My dad was there for all of it as well, and we had three generations of Masons under one roof, which meant the world to me.
