❤️ Two Events. One Shared Vision.
Today, on White Cane Awareness Day, we celebrate the independence, resilience, and empowerment of individuals who are blind or have low vision—and the importance of creating a world where accessibility and inclusion are part of everyday life.
This Saturday, October 17, Blind Fitness invites our community to come together for two meaningful experiences!
🤍 WHITE CANE AWARENESS COMMUNITY WALK
9:30 AM–12:00 PM | Skaters Point Park 100 E Cabrillo Blvd.
Join us for a morning of learning, connection, and community as we explore accessibility through Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone. We’re grateful to be joined by Braille Institute, Access Central Coast, and UCSB Delta Gamma!
🎬 UNSEEN: DOCUMENTARY SCREENING & COMMUNITY Q&A
2:00–4:00 PM | Santa Barbara Museum of Art
Presented in partnership with State of Mind Café, Unseen shares the powerful journey of a blind, undocumented immigrant navigating identity, education, and belonging.
Stay for a special Q&A featuring voices connected to the film and our own Blind Fitness community.
✨ Both events are FREE and open to everyone!
Whether you join us for the walk, the screening, or both, we’d love to share this meaningful day with you.
❤️ Walk with us. Learn with us. Celebrate inclusion with us.

💪 Persistence. Dedication. Empowering Guidance. Collaborative Community. ❤️
That’s what Blind Fitness is all about!
This weekend’s Adaptive Gym Class was another wonderful reminder of what happens when people come together with a shared purpose.
Our blind and low vision athletes continue to demonstrate persistence and dedication as they work toward their individual fitness goals, challenge themselves, and celebrate progress along the way.
Alongside them, our incredible volunteers provide empowering guidance through encouragement, communication, and one-on-one support.
And bringing it all together? Our amazing instructors and a collaborative community committed to making fitness accessible, inclusive, and welcoming for everyone.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to our participants, volunteers, and instructors for showing up, putting in the work, and making another fantastic class possible!
❤️ Together, we’re building more than strength. We’re building connection and community.
Want to be part of the movement? Join us as a volunteer or help sustain our adaptive fitness programs through a donation!

Community support makes moments like these possible.
A heartfelt thank you to State of Mind Cafe for their generous support of our inaugural Play It By Ear Improv Series!
What began with our Intro to Improv workshop has grown into a four-class series where blind and low vision participants and sighted community members can come together to play, create, laugh, connect, and step outside their comfort zones.
We’re so grateful to have community partners who believe in creating more opportunities for connection, creativity, and inclusion.
Thank you, State of Mind Cafe, for being part of the journey. 💛

☀️ It was a HOT one out there today—but our community showed up with heart! ❤️
A huge thank you to all of our Blind Fitness participants and volunteer guides who joined us for this morning’s Beach Walk & Run. Despite the heat, there were plenty of smiles, great conversations, encouragement, and connection along the way.
We’re continually grateful for this incredible community and the way you show up for one another—one step, one mile, and one shared experience at a time. ❤️
Stay cool, everyone, and thank you for another wonderful morning together!

Class 2 of Play It By Ear brought the characters to life!
Last night was filled with laughter, creativity, and a whole lot of imagination as we explored character development—experimenting with voices, personalities, movement, and the freedom to become someone completely different for a moment.
One of the joys of improv is discovering what happens when we let go of overthinking, trust the moment, and simply play. And this group is doing just that! 💛
A big thank you to Kimberly Herriman and Santa Barbara Improv for continuing to guide us through this fun, inclusive adventure—and to all of our participants for showing up ready to explore, support one another, and laugh together.
Two classes down, two to go! 🎭✨

Kudos to Cafe State of Mind on a wonderful Open House this past Saturday! 🎉
Our Lead Volunteer Trainer, Daniel Broz—and soon-to-be barista!—enjoyed hanging out with his pal Katelin Tymone, Cafe Manager & Social Media Director.
Cafe State of Mind is shaping up to be such a special hub for building inclusive community, and these two gems capture that spirit perfectly in their smiles. ❤️
We’re also proud that members of the Blind Fitness Coalition, along with our Executive Director, have had the opportunity to serve on the cafe’s Steering Committee and help support its vision for an inclusive community space.
The energy was buzzing, and we’re so excited to see the cafe come to life when it officially opens! ☕️✨
Congratulations to the entire Cafe State of Mind team—we’re cheering you on!

💪 They show up ready to WORK. We show up ready to support. ❤️
Our Blind Fitness athletes brought the determination to Saturday’s Adaptive Gym Class—working toward their own fitness goals, challenging themselves, and putting in the effort from start to finish.
And right alongside them? Our incredible volunteers, offering one-on-one support, encouragement, and guidance every step of the way.
A huge thank you to our participants for showing up and putting in the work, our volunteers for showing up for them, and our amazing instructors for bringing it all together.
This is adaptive fitness. This is community. And we’re so grateful for everyone who makes it happen. 💪🏼❤️
