CRITICAL FIRE DANGER SUNDAY: A Red Flag Warning has been issued for much of our area for Sunday from noon to 9 PM. A combination of very dry air, strong winds, and dry vegetation will make for conditions where any spark can cause a brush fire which will grow rapidly and be nearly impossible to control.

Even though the burn ban has been lifted please be cautious this weekend as winds are predicted to be high.
Make sure to call the Sheriffs Department before you burn.

A Fire Weather Watch is in effect Sunday afternoon through evening for areas near and west of Interstate 35 due to very windy and dry conditions, increasing the potential for rapid wildfire spread. Avoid any activity that could spark a wildfire.

50 Years of Service!!!!!!
Over the past 50 years, David Schwartz has held many positions on the Goldthwaite Volunteer Fire Department. David joined the fire department in 1976. He became the Assistant Chief and Fire Marshal in 1985 and stayed in that position until 1990. Since 1990, he has been our Chief.
David has decided to retire as Chief, but he is not leaving the Goldthwaite Volunteer Fire Department just yet.
We would like to thank David for his dedication, loyalty, and commitment to our department and our community.
We would also like to give a huge shoutout to Touch of Tada for helping us make the perfect gift to give to David that reflects his 50 years of service to the department.
At this time, we would like to announce that the new Fire Chief for the Goldthwaite Volunteer Fire Department is Kevin Nowell.

A huge THANK YOU to our Goldthwaite High School Cheerleaders and Mascot. These girls gave up their Sunday to come volunteer and help us at the GVFD BBQ Fundraiser today. They delivered to go trays to vehicles, filled tea glasses, picked up trash, and much much more. We couldn’t have pulled it off without these wonderful young ladies.
Thank you girls from all of us at the Goldthwaite Volunteer Fire Department!
