Sunday, Tri-Club Field Day here in Wayne County. Kinston, Sampson County along with Wayne County clubs make up our Tri-Club event. Today, Sunday, things are getting better. We are operating 5A and our 20 meter station is knocking it out of the park with 15 meter and 40 meter right behing. We are also doing a solor station.....see photo.

Thus far Field Day has been a great success. We did have a rain shower about 5:30 this afternoon but otherwise clear as a bell. Lots of visitors, last count we had about 40 folks drop by, not including those who were operating. Several of the visitors took advantage of the GOTA station making about 20 contacts. We will be there all night tonight until tomorrow, Sunday, at 2 pm.....so stop by and see what we are up to.

Less than 24 hours to the start of Field Day. We started setting up this morning and got a lot done. Field Day is open to anyone, Ham or not....the public is welcome to join us. We will have a "Get on the Air" station with a fulltime coach. Come on out and learn about Amateur Radio and it's capabilities. .org

Field Day Field Day

The 24th -25th of June
We will be joining Kinston and Sampson County again this year for the the Tri-Club Field Day. As always the public is welcome….so come on out and bring your friends and family. We will start operations at 2 pm on Saturday the 24th and continue until 2 pm on Sunday the 25th. We will take a break around 6 pm on Saturday for a Cookout dinner…..hamburgers and hotdogs are the evening fair. As always we will need operators and loggers….come on out and give us a hand, you will not be disappointed.

Ham Radio Class - Technician (beginner)
All - The WCARA is sponsoring a beginner's Ham Radio Class. Class starts on Tuesday, Oct 11, and runs for 7 sessions (Tuesdays). Class starts at 6pm and runs to NLT 9 pm.....most classes will end around 8 pm. The location is The First PH Church in Goldsboro. 1100 First PH Church Road, Goldsboro, NC

We will be using the ARRL Technician study guide, 5th edition. The book can be purchased on Amazon, make sure it is the 5th edition.

The Class is FREE, the only cost for the Class is the book.

We are getting ready for Field Day! Setup started this morning and went very well. If you have some time, come on out to the site. 2104 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro, NC half mile south of Lane Tree Golf Course. Kickoff is 2 pm on Saturday and we will be in continuous operation until 2 pm on Sunday. We will have a group meal sometime between 5 and 6 pm on Saturday......everyone is welcome.....that is everyone!

Amateur Radio “Field Day” June 25 – 26 Demonstrates Ham Radio
Members of the Wayne County Amateur Radio Association (WCARA) in conjunction with the Kinston Amateur Radio Society and the Samson County Amateur Radio Service will be participating jointly in the national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise on the 25th and 26th of June. Operation will commence at 2pm on the 25th and cease at 2pm on the 26th. The Field Day site will be located in the wooded area across form 2104 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro NC 27530, just south of Lane Tree Golf Course. Since 1933, Amateur radio operators across North America have established temporary Amateur radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skills of Amateur Radio. This event is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to stop by. We will have a “hands on station” for the general public to experience Amateur radio.
