Habitat for Humanity of Goldsboro-Wayne is committed to putting God's love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. We do this by providing qualified low- to moderate-income families with a path toward home ownership so they can build a better future. The Habitat ReStore supports those efforts through the sale of donated household goods, furniture, construction materials and more. A huge thank you to our friends and partners at Franklin Bakery for coming out to McNair Heights to lend a helping hand as we build a home for one of our Habitat homeowners who is also a valued member of their team!

There is something truly special about seeing a workplace family come together to support one of their own. Your willingness to show up, get to work, and be part of this journey is a beautiful example of what community is all about.

Our New Homeowner Application season has officially come to a close, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the hope and excitement surrounding this opportunity!

This season, we received 528 applications from individuals and families seeking the opportunity to achieve affordable homeownership. We are honored to share that we will be presenting 6 Wayne County families and 2 Lenoir County families to our Board of Directors for consideration.

Behind every application is a story, a dream, and the hope of a brighter future. We believe that everything begins at home, and we are grateful to be part of a mission that opens doors to opportunity for families in our community.

Please join us in celebrating this milestone and keep these families in your prayers as they take the next steps in their homeownership journey.

This past week, members of our staff, board, and one of our Habitat homeowners traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, for the Habitat for Humanity International Conference!

Throughout the conference, our team participated in inspiring workshops, connected with fellow Habitat affiliates, and had the opportunity to share the incredible work happening right here at home. We were proud to present our efforts, share the impact we’re making, and show how our community is coming together to build homes, community, and hope.

We returned home encouraged, inspired, and reminded that while our work begins right here at home, our mission is part of something much bigger. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from others, share our story, and continue Opening the Door to Opportunity for families in our community.

We’re grateful for our continued partnership with Wayne Community College. Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming their carpentry students to McNair Heights for hands-on learning in the field.

There’s something special about seeing students take the skills they’re learning in the classroom and put them into practice while helping build a neighborhood that will provide affordable homeownership and new opportunities for families right here in Wayne County.

At McNair Heights, we’re not just building homes. We’re building skills, strengthening our workforce, and investing in the future of our community.

What an incredible evening of hope and community last night at TA Loving

A heartfelt thank-you to our gracious hosts and to everyone who gathered with us to learn more about our impact and the transformation taking place at McNair Heights.

One of the most powerful moments of the evening was hearing from Ms. Wooten, whose Habitat journey is truly a full-circle story. Having grown up in Lincoln Homes, she shared what it means to now see McNair Heights taking shape in the very community she once called home. For Ms. Wooten, this is about more than a house. It is about generational impact.

That is the heart of what we are building.

We aren't simply building houses. We are opening doors to opportunity, creating stability for families, and transforming a community one home, one family, and one generation at a time.

Thank you to everyone who continues to believe in our mission and continues to help us put God's love into action. Together, we are building more than homes. We are building a transformed community and hope.

We have so much to celebrate at McNair Heights! Not only have we recently closed on our first home but infrastructure is nearing completion, bringing us one step closer to seeing more families welcomed home in this special neighborhood.

What began as a vision is becoming a reality right before our eyes. And it’s happening because of the incredible support of our community. Volunteers who swing hammers, donors who give generously, churches and businesses who stand with us, and every person who believes that everything begins at home.

We are grateful for every hand that is helping build McNair Heights and, most importantly, for the way God continues to open doors of opportunity.

We believe home is more than four walls and a roof. Home is stability. Home is opportunity. Home is hope. And home is where families can put down roots and build a future.

For 25 years, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside families, volunteers, donors, churches, businesses and neighbors to build something that lasts far beyond a house.
