Thursday may 14th is day at the park starts at 10 -2 come on out u will see the wayne county special Olympic equestrian horses bring the kids there will be hot dogs and all kind of stuff to do

Equestrian – Wayne County had 6 athletes participating in the Equestrian tournament held in Raleigh. The team competed in Western Trails and Equitation, English Trails and Equitation and Showmanship events. Team members were Andrew Bedard, Sierra Colie, Nancy Grady, Hannah Hoots, Leah Jones and Pete Lewis. The team garnered 3 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze medals and 3 ribbons. The team was coached by Jana Foote and Sabrina Blackmon.

Bocce – Wayne County had 11 athletes compete in the Eastern Bocce Tournament held in Wilson. Team members were Bobby Willis, Jordan Wiggins, Camryn King , Jonathan Delano, Heather Pardue, Angela Wegscheider, Abigail Bauguess, Emily Bauguess, Emani McDuffie, Tyler Edmundson and Shannon Moore. The garnered 2 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals. The team competed in singles, doubles and unified team events. The team was coached by Brian Hilliard and Angela Wegscheider.

Golf and Cycling – Wayne County had 17 athletes compete at Fall Games in golf and cycling in High Point. The 15 member golf team competed in individual skills, unified doubles alternate shot and individual stroke play events. Team members were Erica Walderman, Rhonda Barwick, John Foster, John Ragan, Larry McRoy, David McRoy, Dianne Jordan, Don and Alan Jenkins, Paul Edwards and Nathan Trent, Don Jenkins Jr. and Jay Zambelli and Bob and Stephen Hannum. The team garnered 3 gold, 6 silver, 3 bronze medals and 5 ribbons. The team was coached by Debi Walderman, Don Jenkins and Catherine and Jason Lechot.

Wayne County had two athletes compete in the 5K cycling race. Team members were Kevjn Langston and Frank Dunn. Frank Dunn won gold and Kevin Langston won silver medals. The cyclists were coached by Herb Langston and Ulysses Rouse
