"NC State Park officials launch a free equipment rental ..."
North Carolina is taking a major step toward making the outdoors accessible for everyone. 🌿♿
William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh has launched a FREE adaptive equipment rental program for visitors with mobility disabilities. The pilot program includes all-terrain mobility wheelchairs designed to help individuals explore trails and experience nature with greater independence.
Programs like this matter because inclusion should extend beyond classrooms, workplaces, and public buildings — it should include our parks, trails, and outdoor spaces too.
According to NC State Parks officials, this initiative is part of a broader mission to remove barriers and ensure that “access for everybody” becomes the standard, not the exception.
This is a strong example of how communities can create meaningful opportunities for individuals with disabilities to connect, explore, and thrive outdoors. 💙
