I light my candle this evening in rememberance of our 3rd child and first born son, Melvin Donald. Melvin was stillborn at 28wks. We heard the devastating news "there's no heartbeat" on August 31, 2019 after I hadn't felt him move in the morning like normal. He was born September 2, 2019 after 24+ hrs of labor. It was the hardest and longest labor I had been through both physically and mentally. The staff from Iowa Specialty Hospital were incredible, comforting, and caring.
I started this group to raise awareness, to let all families who have lost a baby know you're not alone, to create a safe space, and to remeber our sweet angel babies who are no longer with us physically but who will always hold a special place in our hearts!
Our 1st fundraiser, Goldfiled Fountain City days virtual 5k walk/run, blew me away! We had 58 participants in our 5k and raised over $1000! We will be purchasing a beautiful memorial benched to be placed in down memory lane in Goldfield. I'm hoping it will be installed Spring 2021 if all goes well (COVID has put a delay on so many things). With any remaining funds and future fundraisers I want to create bags of hope that can be given to families at the hospital following these devastating losses. I hope to fill these bags with resources, a journal and/or book, and some other comforting items.
Thank you all for your support! πΌπ»π
