Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid Florida

Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid Florida Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt charitable organization serving Mid-Florida communities since 1991. It's all about the dogs!

Our ongoing mission is saving, protecting, and rehoming golden retrievers, retriever breeds, and blends with golden hearts who have lost their home and families. Our all-volunteer organization has rescued thousands of retrievers, and is managed by a Board of Directors with many years of rescue experience. We provide dogs in need a home-based foster care environment, medical care, force-free behavi

or modification training, and a forever home through adoption. Our community education and outreach programs, featuring our GRRMF Hearts of Gold dog therapy team, support our rescue efforts. There are many ways you can help! We welcome adopters, volunteers and donors as our partners who share our passion for the precious dogs and our people in need in our mid-Florida communities. Three teams from Hearts of Gold (and several others from Alliance of Therapy Dogs and DogsInc) greeted students, faculty, and staff on April 18th. There was lots of participation and happy students visiting with the dogs around exam week. We answered good questions about therapy training and interest in the Hearts of Gold program.

Charity was truly one of a kind. She had a way of understanding me that felt almost like she could read my mind. She was never "just a pet"—she was a true companion. So expressive and full of personality, she always made it known when she wanted pets, food, or a walk. And oh, how she loved her tennis balls—really, any ball she could find.

She had a quiet joy in the simple things such as sitting in the driveway with me so that we could watch the ducks glide across the pond, squirrels chase each other up trees, crows squabble over food, or cranes graze in peace. She was always by my side and loved being with all of us. Each night, she would end up in the middle of our bed, and every morning, she made sure to get her cuddles and pets before getting out of bed.

Charity had 4 siblings: her sister Annie, Brewer (boxer mix), Gracie (calico cat), and Jack, our toddler son.

She was the Queen of our home, and we miss her more than words can express. - Katie C.

Katie, We are so sorry for your loss. Thank you for giving Charity a home filled with love, safety, happiness, and belonging. It is clear from your memories that she was more than a pet—she was a cherished family member, faithful companion, and constant source of joy. The beautiful life you shared together, from quiet moments by the pond to morning cuddles and family adventures, is a testament to how deeply she was loved. May those precious memories bring you comfort, and may Charity's loving spirit remain in your hearts forever. 💛🐾

Struggling with leash pulling? You’re not alone 🐾

Head harnesses can sometimes help manage strong dogs temporarily but the real goal is teaching proper loose-leash walking through kind, positive training methods.
