Colorado Mountain Club The Colorado Mountain Club community inspires adventure, empowers progression, and protects the land

The Colorado Mountain Club is the state’s leading organization dedicated to adventure, recreation, conservation and education. Founded in 1912, the CMC has helped Coloradans enjoy the mountains for more than a century. The Club acts as a gateway to the outdoors for novices and experts alike, offering an array of year-round activities and events centered on hiking, mountaineering, backpacking, snow

shoeing, rock climbing, ice climbing, bicycling, fly fishing, backcountry skiing, international trekking and more. The Club comprises 14 regional groups across the state to serve the local needs of its members and partners. Each of these groups provides affordable schools for individuals to create and enhance outdoor skill sets. To ensure the continued enjoyment of Colorado’s pristine places, the CMC also leads efforts to protect wild and public lands with its conservation and stewardship programs. The Club publishes a quarterly magazine, Trail & Timberline, and operates a press with more than 20 current titles. No other organization in the Intermountain West employs such a strong or broad approach to connecting people with the Rocky Mountain landscape.

🧗‍♀️🎬 Big walls, big goals, and one unforgettable story.

Join us July 10th as we kick off CMC's Summits & Stories film series with a special screening of The Queen Swing, following climbers Laura Pineau and CMC alum Kate Kelleghan as they pursue Yosemite's legendary Triple Crown—linking El Capitan, Half Dome, and Mount Watkins in a single 24-hour push.

Before the film, youth can participate in climbing activities, games, climbing demos, and hands-on learning about speed climbing, crack technique, and jugging. Outdoor community groups will also be onsite.

Here's what's in store:

🧗 5:00 PM – Youth climbing activities, games, and community tabling
🎥 6:30 PM – Screening of The Queen Swing
🎤 7:30 PM – Live Q&A with CMC alum and featured climber Kate Kelleghan

Family-friendly • Snacks and beverages available for purchase during the film.

The heart of CMC has always been its volunteers.

They’re out leading trips, teaching courses, helping members build skills, and keeping this whole community moving in the outdoors every week. If you’ve ever been on a course or a trip, you’ve seen the impact of their work firsthand.

We recently came together for our volunteer recognition ceremony to highlight just a small group of the many volunteers who show up for this club all year long. It turned into a really good night of reconnecting, sharing stories, and appreciating the people behind so much of what happens here.

It all comes back to our volunteers 💙

We love being able to celebrate this community, and can’t wait for more moments like this ahead!

🌸Ever wonder what you’re actually seeing on the trail?

Join us for Mountain Voices: Wildflower ID & Author Talk with Marlene Borneman for an engaging look at Colorado’s wildflower world—from how to identify key species to understanding how they appear across different landscapes and seasons.

Learn practical ID tips, how to “read” wildflowers in the field, and gain insight into plant families and characteristics that bring your hikes to life. Marlene will also share stories from her field experience, trail examples, and guidance on where to look for blooms throughout Colorado.

The program includes a Q&A session and book signing.

📚 Books will be available for purchase at the event or through the CMC Press online store. Proceeds support CMC Press programs and publications.

✨ Open to members and the broader community — all are welcome to attend.
