We’ve Reached a Tentative Agreement!

This 6-year Collective Bargaining Agreement is the result of years of organizing, deep community relationships, and the relentless work of JESPA members fighting for dignity and respect.

This didn’t happen overnight.
It took:
✊ Thousands of one on one conversations and meetings
✊ Late night planning and strategy sessions
✊ Hundreds of members joining committees
✊ Building reps stepping up
✊ Hundreds of new members
✊ Members running for union office

It took the collective power of ESPs who know our worth.

📣 And we’re just getting started.

The next phase begins now. Next, JESPA leaders will work on:
🔹 Preparing a full presentation of the Tentative Agreement
🔹 Engaging every member in the ratification vote
🔹 Training to implement and enforce our new 6-year Collective Bargaining Agreement
🔹 Organizing for the future of public education—locally and statewide

We invite you to get involved and help. There’s room for everybody! If you’re not a member, join now! https://jeffcoespa.org

📄 Full TA details will be shared with JESPA members soon.

🗳️ Ratification vote opens at the General Membership Meeting:
Monday, August 18 | 4–6pm (Location TBD/Subject to Change)

Let’s be proud of what we’ve built over the last 6 years—and ready to build even more power for the next 6.

We are posting on Threads here: https://www.threads.com/

Admin raises on the average 115k salary is $4600 a year.

The average for school based ESPs would be $418 a year on a 1.5% COLA. Many of us are not step eligible due to the gaps in our schedule that hold us from receiving a step. Why don’t admin have gaps?

They took this raise while threatening cuts, and without a transparent Board of Education vote.

Jeffco educators at McLain Community High School staged a strike on May 12, demanding transparency & a real voice in decisions about alternative education.

The district’s plan eliminates adult diploma programs, force students into rigid online-only models, & cut off access for older, working, or parenting students. Educators say they were misled/excluded from key decisions, & that dropout data is being misused to justify harmful changes.

They’re calling for honesty, respect, and a seat at the table.

Educators at McLain Community High School staged a strike over proposed changes to Jeffco's alternative education programs, citing a lack of transparency, shifting explanations from district leaders, and concerns over student impact.

JESPA stands with DAEOP - the Denver Association of Education Office Professionals. DPS is quite disrespectful to their Office Professionals, and the bargaining team is here fighting for RESPECT, Compensation and more.

We will keep showing up for every child—fighting for fair funding, healthy meals, fully staffed classrooms, welcoming front offices, well maintained and clean buildings, and safety on school buses. And when corruption, disrespect, and lack of accountability seep in and administrators and weak politicians try to stop us, we will stand up stronger. Public education isn’t just an institution; it’s a cause worth protecting, and we’re here to defend it.

We’re back with another district highlight from the newest cohort of our Get Schools Cooking program! Over a three-year period, Get Schools Cooking helps school districts transition from a heat-and-serve to a scratch-cooking operational model. This cohort (our sixth) will provide over 62,700 students with access to healthier school meals.

Today, we’re introducing the largest school district to participate in Get Schools Cooking to date, Cleveland Metropolitan School District in Cleveland, Ohio!👏 Cleveland offers an exciting opportunity to drive meaningful change in an urban setting, where the impact of scratch cooking and improved school meal programs can benefit a diverse student population.

The district is passionate about introducing local, fresh food options to students, especially those with limited access to healthy meals. The nutrition services department recently received grant funding for 26 salad bars to support their farm-to-school initiative! 🥗 The district has 84 schools and a total enrollment of 36,845 students.

Thanks to generous funding support from Whole Kids, a program of the Whole Foods Market Foundation, The Rachael Ray Foundation, Waverley Street Foundation, and other donors, the Get Schools Cooking program will give more than 96,600 students collectively enrolled in these districts access to healthier meals in schools.
