Eagle's Nest: Big Adventures for 5th Graders! 🦅

From panning for gold and exploring a ghost town to navigating forest trails with a compass and climbing near a glacier, Eagle's Nest campers spend their summer discovering Colorado's natural and cultural treasures.

Along the way, they learn more than science and history. Through every hike, challenge, and adventure, campers build friendship, respect, teamwork, cooperation, and listening skills that help them grow as leaders and community members.

Whether they're studying the water cycle at Reynolds Park, exploring streams at Golden Gate Canyon, touring the Edgar Mine, or experiencing the wonders of St. Mary's Glacier, every day brings a new opportunity to learn, connect, and explore.

Curriculum spotlight: ENOR's 6th graders, or Falcons Aerie, spend their Tuesday at Staunton State Park and travel back in time to Colorado's homesteading days.

The Stauntons moved to Denver in 1903, purchased their ranch in 1918, expanded throughout the early 20th century, and was donated to Colorado State Parks in 1986. On the way to explore the structures that make up this historic ranch, campers discuss animal adaptation and folklore. Falcons learn the history of the Staunton family homestead before designing their own homestead and cabins with park rangers.

Along Davis Pond trail hike, Falcons discover:

📍Historic cabins

The social theme for this day is perseverance and determination, with campers learning how to achieve goals by overcoming difficulties.

Every summer, youth going into 4th grade become our Owl's Roost campers during ENOR.

While making new friends and discovering Colorado nature around them, ENOR campers also explore different social and environmental themes on each hike. For Owls, respect, good listening, and teamwork are at the heart of this week.

Owls start the week diving into 'water day' at Golden Gate Canyon State Park. They explore a pond ecosystem and learn about the water cycle while focusing on what it means to have respect for the environment. Another favorite day for Owls is often leaning into friendship and communication at Hiwan Heritage & O'Fallon Park, learning about human and animal homes and how people moved to Colorado in the 19th century.

These campers hike between 1.5 and 2.5 miles every day and get the opportunity to learn how to use a compass, find out about animal camouflage, and even chase some wildflowers.

This role will play a pivotal role in positive youth development via ENOR Environmental Discovery Camp for 4th-8th graders and youth/family environmental programming throughout the year.

• Recruit, manage, train, and direct educators and volunteers for the summer camp season and throughout the year.
• Develop program policies and procedures, curriculum and supporting materials, and communication messages.
• Monitor compliance with day care licensing requirements and ensure that inconsistencies are addressed.
• Coordinate with other CSU Extension staff to build support for program delivery and build interdisciplinary education opportunities.

ENOR has been inspiring outdoor discovery for 52 years, and we’re looking for dynamic, enthusiastic team members to help continue that tradition!

🌿 Camp Educators
We’re looking for energetic, supportive leaders who love working with kids outdoors. Educators help guide up to 10 campers each day through hiking, hands‑on learning activities, and exploration across local public lands. Responsibilities include:
• Ensuring camper safety and positive experiences
• Preparing daily activities based on camp curriculum
• Managing camper check‑in/out
• Organizing and caring for equipment

🌄 Camp Supervisors
Supervisors provide program leadership and support for our seasonal staff. Responsibilities include:
• Implementing environmental education programs and daily operations
• Scheduling activities and evaluating weekly program needs
• Overseeing transportation logistics and safety
• Supervising and supporting seasonal educators
• Communicating with families and field site partners
