Okay, so the greeting on Golden’s famous welcome arch doesn’t quite say that - ‘Where the West Lives’ are the real words - but ‘Where the West Runs’ would be just as appropriate come early fall...

On Sunday, September 25, 2016 Golden’s 11th annual race explodes into galloping motion. Tthe Golden Gallop will lead its runners on beautiful 5K and 10K loops.

Proceeds from the 2016 Golden Gallop benefited the Golden Schools Foundation (www.GoldenSchoolsFoundation.org), a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization with the vision of encouraging a high level of performance and
accountability in Golden, CO articulation area schools including Kyffin, Mitchell, Pleasant View, Shelton, Ralston and Welchester Elementary Schools, Bell Middle School and Golden High School. The Golden Gallop is a one-of-a-kind race in a one-of-a-kind town. Will you be there, running where the west runs?

🚨 Golden Gallop Update 🚨

We’re excited to announce a new twist for this year’s race!

After careful consideration (and a lot of team discussion), the 2026 Golden Gallop will now be run entirely backwards.

🏃‍♂️ Yes, start to finish, all participants will run the course in reverse.
👟 This exciting change is designed to improve balance, coordination, and keep everyone on their toes.
🏆 Style points may be awarded for smooth backward form.

We encourage all runners to begin practicing now, driveways and hallways are a great place to start.
