Dept of Homeland Security is making false claims. Mn Dept of Corrections is giving the true numbers

Facts matter.

Minnesota prisons, run by the MN Department of Corrections (DOC), already coordinate with ICE. In response to federal misinformation, the DOC has created a public webpage to set the record straight. Currently state prisons have 207 individuals with ICE detainers.

County jails are locally run and hold people pre-trial or for short sentences. They follow the law, but ICE transfers are less consistent because ICE may withdraw a detainer, submit it too late, or fail to show up. County jails have approximately 94 individuals with ICE detainers.

The narrative that Minnesota is refusing to cooperate simply isn’t true. DHS is pushing out false information to justify Operation Metro Surge.

Direct Balloting has begun at GV City Hall! It combines the convenience of voting early with the joy of placing your voted ballot into the ballot tabulator instead of an envelope. Early voting is open during business hours, 8:00-4:30 M-F, plus on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9-3, and Monday, Nov. 3, from 8-5. And, if you prefer to vote on Election Day, your assigned precinct will be open for voting on November 4, from 7 am to 8 pm.

Action Alert regarding proposals to require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote, which would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters.

This is an important alert: some members of Congress are pushing to require people to prove their citizenship before registering to vote, a move that could disenfranchise millions of eligible Americans to participate in our democracy.

The Election Assistance Commission (EAC) is now considering this proposal and accepting public comments until October 20. Anti-voter groups have already flooded the site with misleading comments, but we can push back.
