In April, Headwaters volunteers helped with tornado cleanup at the Engstrand family’s farm in Wisconsin. Receiving their heartfelt note reminds us how much it matters to be there for one another during difficult times.

To the Engstrand family: thank you for welcoming us to your farm and giving us the opportunity to work alongside you. Your words mean so much to our team, and we are grateful to have played a small part in your recovery.

To every volunteer who joined us on short notice: thank you for making time, working hard, and bringing compassion to the cleanup. This message is for you, too. You made a difference, and we are grateful for each of you.

DRESS UP. BOWL. HAVE FUN. SUPPORT A GREAT CAUSE! 🎳🎃**

Join us for Headwaters Relief Organization’s 2nd Annual Halloween Bowling Tournament on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Mermaid Entertainment & Event Center in Mounds View.

Bring your family, friends, or team and enjoy an evening of bowling, costumes, food, and Halloween fun. We will have adult and children’s divisions, a costume competition, raffle, silent auction, pizza, pop, and more.

Registration and check-in begin at 4:00 PM, and the tournament starts at 5:30 PM.

Come bowl with us, dress up, have some fun, and help support the work of Headwaters Relief Organization.

Today, Headwaters Relief Organization joins the nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, honoring the courage of first responders, and recognizing the survivors, families, and communities whose lives were forever changed.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Headwaters volunteers spent an extended period supporting affected communities. The relationships formed through that service did not end when the immediate response concluded. We remain connected with individuals and communities touched by that experience.

September 11 reminds us that recovery continues long after public attention fades. Today, we remember, honor, and reaffirm our commitment to standing with communities through both immediate crisis and long-term recovery.

Headwaters Relief Organization Response in Nepal

Friends old and new, from across the United States and around the world, have reached out to us regarding the situation in Nepal. We deeply appreciate your concern, your offers of support, and your recognition of Headwaters’ longstanding connection to Nepal and its people.

Headwaters’ local affiliates and volunteers in Nepal have already mobilized and are supporting organizations involved in the response. We are currently providing both financial and in-kind assistance to help meet immediate needs.

Thankfully, the immediate families of our Nepal-connected team members are safe. However, many friends, colleagues, and communities have been affected directly or indirectly, and it has been difficult to witness the scale of the devastation.

While the immediate response is receiving substantial attention and support, affected families will continue to face serious needs long after the media attention fades. Headwaters therefore intends to continue focus its work on longer-term recovery, helping families rebuild their homes, livelihoods, and sense of stability in the months and years ahead.

Several individuals and organizations have already offered to help, and we are grateful for that generosity. For now, we are continuing to assess how existing assistance is reaching affected communities and where additional support can create the greatest direct and lasting impact.

We will share more information about our plans and opportunities to support Nepal’s recovery as they develop.

21 years ago, Hurricane Katrina changed New Orleans (and it created us)

Today, we remember the lives lost, the families displaced, and the neighborhoods that were forever changed. We also remember the extraordinary strength, generosity, and resilience of the people of New Orleans who welcomed volunteers even while rebuilding their own lives.

For Headwaters, Katrina was the beginning. What started as one volunteer trip and a load of supplies became a long-term commitment to disaster-affected communities.

But today is first and foremost about New Orleans: its people, its resilience, and a community that continues to inspire us 21 years later.

Asha at Kendra Scott!

One of the best parts of the evening was watching people stop to meet Asha, ask about her story, and learn more about the purpose behind the doll and the work of Headwaters.

Meet Catalina Cáceres Fernández, one of our talented 2026 interns! Catalina is an illustration student from Chile who brought her creativity and artistic skills to Headwaters, helping us develop educational materials for children and communities.

Our internship program gives students and emerging professionals meaningful, hands-on experience in nonprofit service while helping advance Headwaters’ mission.

Our hearts are with the people of Nepal as devastating floods and landslides once again bring loss and destruction to so many communities.

In 2015, shortly after the earthquake, Headwaters Relief Organization was on the ground in Rasuwa and Sindhupalchok districts. At that time, many communities were still recovering from flooding and landslides, though not at the scale of what we are seeing today.

What we remember most are the people, their smiles, warmth, generosity, and incredible hospitality, even after experiencing so much destruction.

Seeing these communities suffer again is deeply difficult. Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones, those who are displaced, and everyone working to help.

नेपालप्रति हाम्रो माया र साथ सधैं छ। 🇳🇵
