The plaintiffs argue that the state and its partners failed to follow proper legal procedures and violated public trust when implementing the tolling arrangement.

Married filing jointly:
US income tax - 22% at 94.3k to 201k a year.
Louisiana income tax - 4.25% If over 100k a year.

26.25% automatically pulled from our checks in taxes.

Louisiana sales tax - 4.45%
Lafourche Parish sales tax - 9.85%

14.3% taxes on every dollar spent in Lafource Parish.

Simplified example:
If you make $100 dollars. You will have $73.74 left over after income taxes. Now if you spend $50 on groceries, cloths, gasoline, or whatever you need to go to work. That leaves $16.59 after sales taxes of that original $100.. Now you have to drive to Port Fourchon for your work day and you have to spend $4.50 if you have already invested into the GeauxPass infrastructure. Or $5.40 if you didn't have the funds to purchase into the GeauxPass infrastructure. Or if you meet all the specific "stipulations" you pay $2.70 after 20 days of paying $4.50.

That comes out to $38.81 paid out in taxes and fees and leaves you with $11.19 from that original $100.

Note that the above example is fairly simplistic and crude, but it does not include the amount of inflation that has occurred in the passed few years on all consumables since Covid or the hugely exasperated increase in home insurance due to hurricane Ida. Inflation and insurance prices are not expected to go back to pre Covid levels any time in the foreseeable future.

This is not sustainable for most middle income earners or below middle class earners. The best financial option for many is to cut losses and leave the Parish and/or State.

Remove all toll fees for registered Lafourche Parish resident!

If the Port is so important to the nation and our local economy. Let's incentive our local workers to stay and stimulate the Parishes growth!

Breaking News: GLPC, Lafourche Parish council , and LA 1 Coalition are introducing toll fees for all vessels entering Port Fourchon via the pass into Port Fourchon. Fees will based on the footage length and how many propellers are in use on each vessel. Added fees will be applied if the vessel is towing another vessel.

Bayou Lafourche pass into Port Fourchon is a vital link to America's domestic crude oil production. Port Fourchon currently supports 100 percent of Deepwater oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico, representing approximately $4.5 billion in revenue to the U.S. Treasury.

These fees will be paid for approximately 30 years by the Master of each vessel. If not paid a violation notice will be mailed out. Specific fee amounts will be announced at a later date. Thank you for your continued service to the billions in economic impact for our great Parish, State, and Country.

We hope to bring public pressure to our elected leaders about the rise in toll fees and an awareness of the negative affects of these tolls on local residents who use the road daily. Let the public discussion begin.
