Christian Help of Gold BeachFood Bank would like to publicly thank our wonderful donors who have given from their hearts this past holiday season. Bethany Lutheran Church in Gold Beach, Calvary Chapel Gold Beach, Coos Curry Electric, Curry County Board of Realtors, Curry General Hospital, Gold Beach Plumbing, Rotary Club of Brookings, Rotary Club of Gold Beach, McKay’s Market, Ray’s Food Place and Wild Rivers Foundation have all given generously so that others could enjoy a traditional holiday dinner. Through their donations of money and food (or both)we were able to provide holiday meals in addition to the regular food assistance we offer. With their provision we gave approximately 30 families the ability to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and another 40 families during the December holiday season.
The food bank serves between 500 and 600 people each month from the Gold Beach, Agness,Ophir, Nesika Beach and Pistol River communities. Our participants include all walks of life including people who are homeless, seniors, families, people with disabilities and veterans. Most of these people are living way below the poverty level. Weekly the food bank provides fresh produce, frozen vegetables, eggs, pastas, dried beans and when available, dairy. Monthly we provide families/individuals with a box of canned goods, frozen meats, tuna, bread, oil, pancake mix, peanut butter, cereal or oats, staples and any other food items we may have to supplement the main box.
Our sincerest thanks to those groups above who recently donated and to the many individuals who either donate food, money or McKay’s receipts to us so that we can continue to assist those among us who are experiencing hunger and in need of food. We are truly grateful.
With best regards,
Sandra Turner
