This weekend, July 18th- 21st two cadets (Andrew Bonnell and Abby Bowman) traveled to the Illinois Fire Service Institute for the second year to train at the annual Explorer Cadet Fire School.
So much training experience, here are a few things we did!!
-Forceable entry
-VEIS(vent, enter, isolate, search).
- Played roles as a truck, engine, and squad companies searching and getting water to inside fires in real fire evolutions.
~Residential areas, garages, restaurants, balconies, basements and more.
-Ladders up to second story windows.
-Vehicle extrication.
-Firefighter ropes & knots.
-Primary & Secondary searches. Right and Left handed searches.
-Finding victims inside and properly getting them out.
Getting to experience this is very rewarding, you get to see the results from your hard work and learn so much all while having fun. Thank you to our advisors from our department who took us and stayed with us the whole time, and our department for making it possible for us to go!! Along with that thank you to everyone at IFSI who put it in and work so hard to make it happen every year!
Will be posting pictures as soon as they are available to us.
