The Gogebic County Chapter of MARSP We work in Lansing to promote dignity and security in retirement for ALL public school employees!

Established in 1951, the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) is a non-partisan organization dedicated to protecting the retirement benefits of Michigan’s public school employees. MARSP’s Mission

MARSP is focused on five key areas:

We preserve and enhance public school employees’ retirement income and health benefits through legislative advocacy, oversight of MPSERS, and individual guidance for members. We provide news and resources to help public school employees and retirees make informed decisions. We educate legislators about the public school system and MPSERS to promote sound policymaking that protects public school retiree benefits. We foster a supportive community of current and future public school retirees. We promote career satisfaction and longevity among public school employees through retirement planning assistance, advocacy, and professional development support.

SUPPORTING MARTY'S GOLDENAIRES

At a recent meeting of the GARSP executive board it was decided that we would like to be an underwriter of the Marty's Goldenaire group's concert performance at the Historic Ironwood Theatre. It would cost us $200 to be an underwriter along with two other sponsors. Marty's has been selected to attend the 250th anniversary of our country. They will be participating in a parade in Washington, DC on Memorial Day weekend. One of their fundraisers will be performing a concert on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the HIT at 7 p.m. General seating for $15 is available at the usual outlets, including Marty's members and the HIT ticket office.

MAY 2026 GARSP MEMBERSHIP MEETING
The Gogebic County Chapter of MARSP will hold its spring membership business meeting on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11am at the Golden Dragon in Ironwood, MI. Check-in time will begin at 10:45am. Contact GARSP at [email protected] if you plan to attend. The buffet ($22) will be offered only if at least 20 people sign up for it otherwise you can order off the menu. Should you plan stay just for the meeting only and want a beverage, the cost will be $3. Feel free to share this with your friends who are retired as a Michigan employee.
