The Kindness Counts Scholarship, now being offered for the 8th year, was created by an anonymous group of people to recognize high school students who have made a positive impact in the lives of others while inspiring their peers to pursue philanthropy and acts of kindness within their communities. This year's recipient is Owen Dent at USD 265-Eisenhower High School
"We are excited to present Owen with a scholarship to be used towards his Education at The University of Tulsa. Owen had many hours of school related volunteer work, however for us, it was him showing up for his neighbor that highlighted his character and willingness to take initiative when he saw a need for someone who was going through a difficult transition at home."
"When challenging seasons face us, oftentimes well meaning friends and family will say "let me know what you need, or how I can help" .Yet when a person is overwhelmed with grief, difficult decisions, and life transitions, it can be yet another task that they are assigned with...thinking of what they need when they aren't even sure where to start. Thank you Owen for giving us the opportunity to learn more about you. Have a great summer!"
Thank you to the counseling teams at USD 265-Goddard High School & USD 265-Eisenhower High School for helping us to get the word out about the scholarship each year. Thank you to all of the students who applied this year, we enjoyed learning more about the work that you are already doing in your community! 🎓
