The Gober Community Club recently organized a Post Office Committee to research, discuss, and recommend the best course of action for the old post office building. Our goal was to consider safety, as well as honoring Gober history. The Committee decided that the post office building will be taken down on or immediately after (weather permitting) May 31, 2026. Weather permitting, the building will then be burned and will be buried in Gober.
If you would like to view or take photos of the building prior to May 31, 2026, please use extreme caution around the building, including the porch and surrounding areas.
We have plans to honor the building's history in the Community Center. We know many physical locations in and around Gober hold many special memories for lots of people and we believe this is the best way to preserve those memories with safety in mind.
