Tomcat Bridgebuilders Receives $49,800 OneOhio Grant to Support Prevention and Recovery in Trimble Township!!🎉🎉🎉
Tomcat Bridgebuilders are pleased and grateful to announce that we have been awarded a $49,800 grant from Athens County OneOhio Funding in the spring of 2026. The funding comes from Ohio’s long-awaited opioid settlement funds and will support Bridgebuilders’ prevention and recovery efforts in Trimble Township over the next two years.
The grant will provide resources for a variety of programs, activities, and community partnerships designed to promote healthy choices, strengthen prevention efforts, support students and families, and reduce the impact of substance use in the community.
Funding will support the following initiatives:
•Red Ribbon Week activities at Trimble Local Schools
•Community billboards featuring prevention and awareness messaging
•Publication of the second edition of Young Voices from a Small Town
•Bringing in guest speakers to address prevention, substance use, and community awareness
•Supporting the annual Community Day of Hope
•Developing partnerships with local pharmacies to provide prevention messaging on medication bags
•Supporting After Prom activities
•Supporting Tomcats Unplugged
•Supporting Play 2 Prevent at Trimble Local Schools
•Providing food bags to families as one way to help address factors associated with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
•Increasing student involvement and leadership in the community’s prevention mission.
Tomcat Bridgebuilders has been serving the community for 21 years and was the first community-based drug abuse prevention coalition in Athens County. Throughout its history, Bridgebuilders has worked to bring together students, families, schools, community organizations, and local partners to promote prevention, resilience, and healthier communities.
Bridgebuilders is deeply appreciative of the support provided through Athens County OneOhio Funding. This investment will help strengthen and expand prevention efforts in Trimble Township and provide meaningful opportunities for young people and families over the next two years.
