Military Railroad Society The Military Railroad Society, (Project 5002) began as a restoration effort of a World War II era, S100 type, USATC steam locomotive number 5002.

We are the Military Railway Society: a nonprofit group dedicated to the preservation and operation of historic military locomotives, rolling stock, and other military railroading artifacts. Our organization was formed with the purpose of restoring USATC 5002 to operation, in order to help share the history of military railroading, which helped win World War I and World War II. While that goal was

not reached, we have shifted to a wider scope of education. Restoration efforts continue on smaller artifacts

The Military Railroad Society has become involved in community outreach with the military community by hosting train ride events such as Operation Sergeant Santa, and participating in military reenactments throughout the year. We are eager to preserve all different facets of military railroading, to help honor the legacy of the men and women who served our great nation. Membership is open to ANYONE interested in military railroad history. You do not have to be in the military to join.
We have 7 levels of Membership starting with Specialist at $3.00 a month and going to General at $25.00 a month. Go to www.armysteam.com and click on membership. There you can decide to join the E-4 mafia, or all the way up the chain.
