Everything is planted!
The raised bed and the garden in front of the Senior Center/LJZ is full of vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
If you look under the sign out front, there is a new bed of flowers in there too.
Everything is beautiful!!
Thank you so much to all who donated plants, soil, and fertilizer. A huge Thank You to those who showed up to do the weeding, digging, and planting. It was so much fun and there is such a wealth of knowledge in this community. Amazing!
Amy and George got a lesson on watering today. I'm sure they'll appreciate their job when it's time to eat the goodies the garden produces.
If anyone has a spare large watering can, I'd sure appreciate it. Need it to get to the plants the hose won't reach. Thank you!

The Lauri Jean Zach Center is once again hosting BINGO on July 4th. We will be playing from 1pm to 5pm at the bingo stand in Marion Park.
Any and all volunteers are welcome to help call or collect money. If you can work an hour, that's great! If you want to work more, we will certainly not say no.
Please let us know what time(s) you are available and we'll put you on the schedule.

Don't forget the planting fun at the Lauri Jean Zach Center/Senior Center on Sunday! The fun starts at noon with filling the raised bed and planting along the building. There's also rock painting for the kids! Many plants have been donated and the variety is awesome. See you Sunday at noon. 337 York Road, Glidden, WI

A huge "Thank you" to the Park Falls Knights of Columbus for another successful tootsie roll drive. They have donated all funds raised to the Lauri Jean Zach Center. They also brought a few leftover tootsie rolls! It doesn't get any better than that!

UPDATE: Cardboard is all gone. Thank you for picking it up!

We're still saving cardboard for anyone wanting to make a boat for July 4th cardboard boat race. If you want or need it, please come and get it. It will be recycled as of Friday, June 5th. I just don't have room to store it. Call the Center at 715 264 6611 to make arrangements if you need to pick up after normal hours.

Memorial Day. A day of reflection and remembrance.
This was this week's lesson at LJZ. We made flags, discussed the meaning of Memorial Day and studied the Pledge of Allegiance. Not just memorizing the words and saying them, but asking, "Why do we say these words? What do they mean?
The lesson ended with stating the pledge under our flag at LJZ. (the client's idea)

It has started! The gardens at the Lauri Jean Zach Center and Glidden Area Senior Center are underway!
Raspberries and rhubarb were planted this weekend and a new raised bed for vegetables is ready to be filled. So exciting!
Once everything is planted, producing, and ready for picking, these gardens will be available/accessible to anyone who needs them.
Please donate any extra vegetable plants you may have and if you have dirt/compost, please feel free to drop it at the Center.
