Care Links of Southern Saratoga County

Care Links of Southern Saratoga County Trained Care Links volunteers provide supportive services at no cost to persons 60+. Volunteers give respite, which is vitally important to caregivers.

Care Links’s goal is “Linking Those in Need with Those Who Care.” Our volunteers help to keep people living independently in their homes as long as possible without duplicating other, well-established services. Trained volunteers provide no-cost supportive services to persons 60 and over and their caregivers. Services include: friendly visiting, transportation, respite assistance, shopping and er

rands, meal preparation, handy helping, telephone reassurance as well as information and referral. Caregivers served by the program include spouses, siblings, or adult children, but typically they are women caring for a parent, or a spouse. One caregiver declared, “It gives me life!” Volunteers help by serving as extra hands for the caregiver. Care Links is now a program of CAPTAIN Community Human Services. History: Shenendehowa Senior Citizens Inc. established the Care Links Interfaith Community Caregiver program in 1996 with the help of both a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and a Charitable Venture Foundation grant. Care Links was born out of a growing conviction that seniors and their caregivers in need of respite were sent away from the Senior Center, or remained in the community without the help they needed.

We’re excited to share a sweet way to support the Care Links Program!
From May 27 through August 31, 2026 The Olde Bryan Inn (123 Maple Ave, Saratoga Springs) is generously donating $2.00 from every piece of cheesecake sold to benefit CAPTAIN Community Human Services’ Care Links Program.
This delicious initiative helps fund vital services that support older adults in our community—reducing isolation and promoting independence.

Join Us!
On June 30 at 1:00 PM, you’re invited to join us as we gather a group to visit The Olde Bryan Inn together in support of this fundraiser and to personally thank them for their generosity.
A special thank you to Care Links team member, Gerri Thompson, for coordinating this wonderful opportunity—your dedication and support mean so much to our program!

So next time you dine at The Olde Bryan Inn, consider ordering a slice of cheesecake—your dessert will make a difference!
