TONIGHT! Monday, August 3

There's a referendum this November, regarding Northfield Township. The League of Women Voters Glenview-Glencoe will be hosting a forum looking at Northfield Township referendum questions on November's ballot, the binding question of which would abolish the Northfield Township Road District and move those functions under the township government. Expected to attend this event are Highway Commissioner Mike Korman and Township Supervisor Shiva Mohsenzadeh.

"The League of Women Voters of Glenview-Glencoe will host its inaugural “Know Your Local Government” discussion focusing on Northfield Township and a high-stakes proposal to abolish its road district.

The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at the Glenview Public Library, 1930 Glenview Road.

The forum comes after township trustees voted in May to place three referendums on the Nov. 3 general election ballot. Among them is a binding question that asks voters: “Shall the Road District of the Township of Northfield be abolished with all the rights, powers, duties, assets, property, liabilities, obligations, and responsibilities being assumed by the Township of Northfield?”

Township Supervisor Shiva Mohsenzadeh and Road District Commissioner Mike Korman are expected to speak at the event." Journal and Topics Media Group
