Illinois Shockwave Fastpitch Association to dissolve as of July 30, 2017

It is with heavy, but grateful hearts that we announce the dissolution of Illinois Shockwave effective July 30, 2017. After three successful seasons that witnessed growth from one to four teams, the Shockwave Board has found that it can no longer fulfill its mission statement and has decided to dissolve the organization. The Board would like to thank all the players and their families for their commitment and participation, as well as our wonderful sponsors who helped make Illinois Shockwave what it was. After our 16u team concludes its participation at the NAFA Live the Dream tournament in Evanston this weekend, there will be no more Illinois Shockwave teams and, as such, no tryouts for any future teams.

Illinois Shockwave 16u played at the Midland Magic Summer Showcase in Springfield, IL this weekend, going 4-1-1 in temps that ran in the upper 90s with 50+% humidity. The team had fun despite the heat and played their best softball of the season. Next weekend: NAFA Live the Dream tournament in Evanston.

16u Shockwave took the McHenry County Heatwave's B bracket championship today. After going 1-2 in pool play yesterday at Bates Park in Woodstock, the team won all three games in bracket play today. Congrats!

The season is really heating up for 16u now, with two league games on Monday and Tuesday this week and NAFA Midwest Nationals in Loves Park Wednesday through Sunday, the players will hopefully continue improving on their 9-8 (so far) summer record. [Not pictured: Asst. Coach Colleen Feldheim]

Great game this morning in Arvada, Colorado. Shockwave 15u defeated Wheatland Spikes in five innings (12-4). Pictured here is our lefty-slapper Grace Mosele after her triple. Halle Mangurten hit another homer, a two-run shot in the 5th inning and her second homer this week. Brianna Luciano hit a three-run homer in the 1st inning and pitched an excellent game, and Elena Escalante also hit a home run in the 4th inning. Good job, team! Next game is at noon, so I gotta run back to the park.

Illinois Shockwave 16u played their first tournament of the summer season this weekend, the Elk Grove Heat PGF Summer Classic. After a frustrating day of on-and-off rain yesterday, which resulted in pool play games only 45 minutes long and Shockwave only getting one of two games in, the team returned to Community Athletic Fields in Itasca for single elimination bracket play today.

The team won their first game against Oak Lawn Gems (6-5), and a win in their second game against Elk Grove Heat (5-2) brought them to the quarter finals to face Roselle Rampage. Shockwave fell 8-1 in that game. It was a good first outing and the team heads to Elgin next weekend.

15u Shockwave is playing at the Big Bash 2017 Summer Classic this weekend in St. Charles. They won both their pool play games last night, earning #1 seed status, and won their first elimination game this afternoon against Yorkville (8-3). Good luck the rest of the weekend!!
